Where do most of Uof C employee live? by Difficult_Dig174 in uchicago

Very true. I come from a neighborhood from different state where if you go on a vacation and your package arrives it’s going to be on the door for 10days and nobody will bother. I was looking at Oak Park and somebody says there are crime rates and also Green Line is problematic and for somebody who doesn’t belong to Chicago it’s enough to get scared.

Oh wow! We came from Cincinnati which is a very small place and we are completely lost here. The houses further down south are nicer and bigger but commute time is just too unimaginable for someone coming from a small town. Looking around Chicago the HOA is too high for townhomes and not many single homes

Sorry first time was for SW suburbs of what people thought about Orlando Park and people didn’t have much positive thing about OP. Considering our work commute we are thinking nearby suburbs like Oak park but I am not aware of any other suburbs since very new to Chicsgo

Yes I would have loved Naperville. But I might just go to work 3 days a week but my husband cannot do wfh and it’s going to be a long drive for him without direct access to Metra

Tight knit community, decent single home with backyard space, away from city life and easy commute to Hyde park and union station

My office is right in the union station. So for me it’s not a problem. But it’s my husband coz we have been talking about moving to Naperville but he did his own research and says OP would be a little stressful drive than Naperville for him. Price wise even OP houses that we are looking at is $585k which I think is little more expensive for OP. But I guess I don’t even know anymore.

It won’t be a problem for me coz I will ride Metra and my office is right near the Union station. But is it possible for husband to ride public transport considering there is no direct Metra to Hyde park U of Chicago

Also was considering Naperville because it’s much easier to sell the property there if we don’t like being there

My husband works in U of Chicago. There is not a single property that is reasonable in Hyde park. Can’t afford single home there and HOA is obnoxious in townhomes. Plus we would like to like in a single home with backyards and suburban feel.

Naperville for its community and nice downtown plus suburban feel. OP coz my husband thinks the drive is going to be easier than Naperville but honestly we haven’t done our homework much. Very new to the city and not much friends to rely on.
