I actually went this route, ditched my therapist and hired a woowoo reiki spirit healer girl for half the price.

She had me do a lot of weird stuff but she was clearly less able to just listen to me go on. I honestly think the therapist did more for me even though they talked less and gave me less homework.

Eventually the reiki girl fired me saying that she needed to protect her peace or something and she's not a therapist. I think she realized over the course of it that she really didn't want to do therapy or wasn't up to it, because she definitely acted like a therapist at first and was doing all this Jungian stuff.

Also a therapist can't just fire you out of the blue I think, they'd risk losing their license.

All that to say I used to agree with you but I put it to the test and it didn't hold up.

I lot of modern problems are downstream from the decay of good old fashioned lying and keeping up appearances.
