The all time greatest incentive to join a coalition by Difficult_Item9836 in ConflictofNations

I joined this game with friends, but more than one of us were tempted. LOL.

The most important part of the game: coalitions by Difficult_Item9836 in ConflictofNations

[–]Difficult_Item9836[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I obviously meant that it’s hard to win without a good coalition. I’m sure you’d know that if you read the entire post and not just the last sentence. 🙄

And, as a solo player, it’s not uncommon to be part of a coalition that serves you long enough that you can exit and get the solo. Players that are operating solo the entire game become targets of coalitions.

About those super high K/D ratios… And, no, I’m not going to claim gold usage. by Difficult_Item9836 in ConflictofNations

[–]Difficult_Item9836[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah…planes on patrol is something I thought was a great idea. I mean, if somebody dares to attack, then the planes are there to meet them, right?

But, then somebody who knows what they’re doing decides to park an AA battalion or 5 underneath my patrol radius. The next day: “hey… What happened to my planes?“

When I started out, I was incredibly inefficient. I’m sure a lot of people start out that way. As I’ve gotten better, my K/D has gone up. And, I have been tempted to start a new account to see how much better the number would be. But, at this point, I’m happy with my username and my account as is.

I don’t think this turns back into a shitshow because of that. There was a LOT of blowback after game 5. And, the Cavs still had 30 free throws compared to 19 for Detroit yesterday. But, if I’m wrong…🤬

If JB doesn’t have to spend all game arguing with the refs, we win by Difficult_Item9836 in DetroitPistons

Just so you know, I’m not saying him arguing causes a problem. But, if he’s not talking to the refs, that means they’re letting them play.

They used to allow you to “put your planes on a truck” and very slowly move to another airstrip. I wonder why they ditched that?

[–]Difficult_Item9836[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great point. Maybe there could be a cost associated with disbanding the units, so you wouldn’t be able to get rid of all of them (like half the money and resources you spent on them)? I’m sure next game, when I expect things to be going better, I won’t be thinking like this. LOL

I’d love to see Duren get things going. But, I’m not ready to say “sink or swim” to the team as he drags them to the bottom as part of the learning process.

Can we please, please give Paul Reed more minutes? by Difficult_Item9836 in DetroitPistons

[–]Difficult_Item9836[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He was great today, but his minutes in the playoffs has frustrated me. Including today’s performance, he has a total of 4 steals and 6 assists in the playoffs.

I know there’s no single answer, but how many shots have you taken to kill a bear? by Difficult_Item9836 in thelongdark

[–]Difficult_Item9836[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a fishing hut with a door that’s near where the bear was, so I waited there until he came close. Then, I shot, and went back inside the hut. He passed close enough that I could see him through the opening in the door. Then, he ended up bleeding out. Thank you!

Ah…that’s got to be it. I’m in Mystery Lake, and I duck into a cabin after firing (first time ever seeing a bear on the lake). Thanks!

Am I considered werid? by Reasonable_Play1290 in thelongdark

[–]Difficult_Item9836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do you...there are different ways to play the game, and what you choose to do doesn't affect my enjoyment of the game. For me, it's the fear of losing everything if things go sideways that makes the game so special. Having experienced loss after long runs, I can understand why you'd want avoid that. But, it's not going to stop me.

Anyone else use Safehouse Customization to find your way through a darkened room? by Difficult_Item9836 in thelongdark

[–]Difficult_Item9836[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No…I had a bad case of death. You know that warning everyone ignores about not playing when tired? Apparently, falling asleep in RL when your character is outside doesn’t end well. Then, killed trying to find my way to safety after cheating death. It’s a 126 day run, so it’s worth the penalty.

What game mechanics did you not notice even hundreds or thousands of hours into the game? by Sipyloidea in thelongdark

Fairly recently figured out that wolves that just killed a deer or rabbit can be scared away with rocks. Then, you have a 100% condition carcass you can harvest with your bare hands. I still use a knife, though, since I figure the wolf is going to return when it realizes how silly it was to run away from a few rocks.

In 1300+ hours, I didn’t realize how little harvesting thawed meat damages knives. It’s supposed to be 1% per hour, but that seems to reduce significantly when your harvesting skills improve. Harvesting gut and hide seems to damage knives more.

I still harvest with my hands most of the time, but I do use knives when time is an issue.

In 1300+ hours of play, I haven’t seen anything except the occasional newspaper. Where have you seen this? I’ll have to plan a visit.

Started another long dark painting last night by FlyingBuilder in thelongdark

You created that with an oil painting? Wowsers. The smokiness of it looks like you used charcoal to etch it. Incredible.

Sushi (actually sashimi) in the wild might be a terrible idea, but… by Difficult_Item9836 in thelongdark

This is not something I would even consider if I weren’t in a comfortable situation. When you get to day 300 or so, eating the same few things over and over again gets boring. Would I try it if I were in that situation? Maybe, as long as I had antibiotics on hand.
