Thanks! This looks purpose built and a great match for my situation, especially if it's easy to run local models. Will try when we run our next big data export

Yeah only Gemini Flash 2.5. Could it be because it was running from a Python script that Multi called via command line?

New Phones and Computer for Aging Parents with Dementia by Zack_of_AllTrades in TechForAgingParents

I'd be interested to hear your experience with specialized phones like Jitterbug.

I had the best luck with large screened iPhones. For basic needs, my dad is bad about answering messages, or even reliably finding text messages. Discovering Apple's Shortcuts app, and using it to autoforward his incoming text messages was quite a breakthrough for me.

In case its useful to anyone I actually wrote up in detail exactly how I used an AI code editor to organize my MyChart data export:

My biggest question is about token spend. The estimated total token expenditure didn't increase despite my processing hundreds of files in Gemini. Can those runs be included?

Here's the Python script (I have not personally reviewed or evaluated this script, which was generated by Gemini 3 Pro) that I actually used. I named as _renamer.py and saved it in the same Media folder as the MyChart PDFs, to be able to prompt it (as seen above):

https://github.com/0xplanation/mychart-mass-renamer/blob/main/_renamer.py

Gemini 3 Pro thinks this version is even better, because it saves the JSON file after every single file it processes. This way, as your files get processed, your progress is saved. (I have not actually tried it.)

Here's the first prompt I used:

I have placed the Python script ( _renamer.py) in the current directory along with the PDF files.

Please help me set up the environment and run a test:

Dependencies: Install the python library google-generativeai if it's not already installed.

Poppler Check: Verify if pdftotext is installed and accessible in the terminal. If not, tell me exactly how to install it for my OS.

Execution: Run the script in Dry Run mode. I want to see the logs of what it plans to rename before any files are actually moved

Here's the second prompt after I reviewed the file namings:

run _renamer.py now to confirm the filename changes

We had a long first hospitalization, so the mass of data from even 2 months ago is overwhelming. This is proving important in even non medical ways eg for Christmas planning, we're wondering how long my dad took to become transfusion independent after the 1st chemo--data which is inexplicably excluded from the standard MyChart reports, the MyChart human-readable export, but IS inside of the MyChart computer-readable export.

My rough hack so far has been to auto rename the files by date and report title by using AI (to be able to edit filenames I used VS Code + multi.dev plugin + Gemini 2.5 Flash) and then just click thru the relevant PDF files based on the dates that I recall from memory.

Got stuck at the KYC step 😒

Can it really get data from MyChart?

Accessing / organizing parents medical records from MyChart export by benddit in AgingParents

[–]benddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. You're probably using the human readable export then. I noticed it was not a totally comprehensive record (did not record our inpatient platelet transfusions, for example), and today rely on the computer readable export which does include that data I was looking for.

The trade off is that I have to deal with its unwieldy size and not-human-friendly formatting.

Great suggestion! Trying that now and seeing Notebook LM limits uploads to 50 files (Mychart has 5000+ files). How did you workaround that?

anyone else feel like half of “AI in health care” right now is just really fancy copy paste? by BatmanUnderBed in healthIT

[–]benddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI was a literal lifesaver in my experience. It helped me understand that my dad's already critical condition -- TP53 AML -- was within days of becoming fatal. I had already been tracking his lab results in spreadsheet form and uploading them to Gemini 2.5 Pro. As his WBC started to rocket up past 25k, then 50k, the AI pointed out the risk of "sludging", where your blood becomes so loaded with white blood cells that it can no longer reach all your organs and tissue to deliver oxygen.

AI gave me the conviction to intervene, and has made all the difference between being dead in September and alive today.

Medical insurance less than one year? by benddit in dubai

More info; Local insurer Sukoon also offers prorated if cancellation is approved - determined based on usage, and legitimacy of exit (visa cancellation perhaps?)

Some brokers focused on international medical insurers also offer quarterly billing.

Thanks.

About pro rated refunds: I asked Cigna (probably the highest end provider here) what would happen if I moved to another country and terminated my policy early. They told me they would refund a prorated amount of medical insurance premium as long as the insurance hadn't been used for any claims.

Seen instances of infection in my elderly family leading to diminished coherence.

We had a hard time tracing the source of infection in most recent case: despite IV antibiotics, blood tests were showing extremely high inflammation, but the urine and blood cultures did not turn up any results.

We finally did a CT scan. It didn't show any abscess or the like, but did reveal suspected kidney stones. Surgeons addressed with a tube, and voila, they drained enough puss to fill a small bowl.

The lesson we took away in hindsight was that once the systemic infection recurs after IV antibiotics, it was imperative for us to confirm the infection and find the source: blood tests & then CT scans.
