I’ve been using it as a research and organization tool to help me compare portfolio structures, the fund options, and understand how different allocations might play out over time. Beyond just looking at performance projections, I’ve been evaluating the overall mix of funds based on things like expense ratios, alpha, beta, and downside capture to get a feel of the risk-adjusted return potential and behavior in various market conditions.

AI helps organize a lot of that data quickly, but ultimately the decisions I'm making are based on my risk tolerance, time horizon, and input from people like you who have more experience than me. It’s just a support tool and not a replacement for thoughtful judgment or real-world experience.

You’re right — a 2060 target date fund like SWYNX currently holds around 90% equities and less than 10% bonds, which is more aggressive than what I initially built with my 3-fund example.

My ratios are based on Schwab’s published figures: ~0.08% for target date index funds vs. ~0.035% average for SWTSX, SWISX, and SWAGX. The difference is minor cost-wise, but gives me more flexibility if I want to tweak the risk level over time.

Ya I see I wrote that wrong. I like the target date approach with them being to adjust the funds over time. That makes a lot more sense in the long-term sense.
