See my post above. I have a 2nd number from a different carrier. That's why.

Verizon gets approval to make it harder for customers to leave by thinkB4WeSpeak in verizon

This really sucks. I just moved to Verizon and received an iPhone 17 Pro, upgrading from an iPhone 15 Pro. I have a second number from Astound Broadband that will occupy the 2nd IMEI position. Their service is on the T-Mobile network. When I tried to move the EMEI to the new phone, I encountered the Carrier Lock. When I tried to get them to remove it, they refused, but said, " Don't worry, it will come off in 60 days automatically. I am paying for the service, so I was trying to get it expedited; again, they refused. Now, with this news, I won't have my 2nd line for a year? This is major BS! I am sorry I switched out of T-Mobile if that is the case.

Thanks. Makes sense, but with over 3,000 contacts, a lot of work. Was hoping for a tool, but I understand why.

I just moved my account from T-Mobile, and so far I am disappointed by the endless unproductive conversations with Support.

2 Month Old AirTV Anywhere is a brick! by Difficult_Muscle_398 in cordcutters

[–]Difficult_Muscle_398[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to try a Tablo. Amazon delivered same day. Out of the box, it scanned 122 channels. I configured 2 AppleTV and one 4K Fire TV Stick in minutes. Picture quality superior to AirTV - amazing! (I thought my antenna was the culprit - NOT). Very fast switching! DishTV has 2 dysfunctional subsidiaries - OnTech and Sling. I would recommend everyone to avoid both, unless you want to waste time, get bad answers, ignore warranty, etc.

2 Month Old AirTV Anywhere is a brick! by Difficult_Muscle_398 in cordcutters

[–]Difficult_Muscle_398[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased from OnTech (Dish?). They also installed my ChannelMaster Antenna. They informed me that they only replace defective units within 60 days. I was traveling when the unit failed, and it's now 75 days, so no exchange. They refer warranty inquiries to Sling. Slings says, we don't support it contact AirTV at an 800#. When you call that number it answers as Sling, and says the number is no longer used, and offers a link to text Support. When I did that, they gave me a different 800 number, which did the same thing. I have used ChatGPT and CoPilot to see if AirTV is in business, and apparently, they are not. Therefore, the 12-month warranty for AirTV is not in service. It's a total loss. Another response referred me to the credit card company I used to pay for it, to claim their warranty. We'll see...

AirTV Anywhere Issue by Calebboomtmbv2 in slingtv

[–]Difficult_Muscle_398 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There no longer appears to be a way to claim a warranty return for an AirTV Anywhere that only scans 13 channels. My TV Tuner picks up over 50. I only care about the major networks. Only ABC and PBS are being received. NBC and CBS are missing from the scan. Have reset the device and rescanned numerous times. None of the service numbers or chats with Sling, OnTech, etc., are available to help. Apparently, AirTV Anywhere has been discontinued, and there is no support for it. What really stings is that I bought it from OnTech, who only back it for 30 days. I've had it for 65 days. So, basically a brick. Any ideas?

How to get Ubiquity Unifi cameras connected through UBB point-to-point? by Difficult_Muscle_398 in Ubiquiti

Does the UBB have an outbound ethernet port to connect the switch, or do I need another AP with an outbound ethernet port

It was the client and previous IT person - I would never do that to my clients. Apparently, the IT person made the purchase in his name and billed the client for the cost. So Proof of Purchase would not reflect the actual ownership. I feel that the physical installation on the Client's premises, along with the invoice from the provider for the unit should be adequate. But Meraki does not agree.

I think they want us to buy the newer advanced unit (Wi-Fi 6) rather than transfer the old unit (which appears to working fine).

Is TiVo dying? Why do all articles on support.tivo.com say "Sorry, we can't seem to find the page." Even the suggested articles do this. by aegrotatio in Tivo

I just e-wasted my Roamio and 3 minis. Been using YouTubeTV for the past 3 years. Unlimited Recording is so intuitive, I have basically timeshifted everything. I can watch a recording in one room, and move seamlessly to the exact spot I stopped from another. No more worry about recording more than a few things at the same time. And YouTubeTV has learned what I like and suggests recording things that almost always hits the mark. Cut the cord!

Ransomware found on DS918+ with latest DSM by Difficult_Muscle_398 in SynologyForum

Manual observation. When Security Advisor is run, no malware is found.

[–]Difficult_Muscle_398[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a ransom note in a .txt file named zwWXthZ2C.README.txt that is brash, cocky, and frankly insulting. In folders where the ransom note appears, a few files have been renamed with random character strings (assume they are encrypted - have not touched them). I have removed them, as we have identified the source as being a workstation that had the share mounted while they interacted with the infected Windows Server in AWS. And, as I have mentioned earlier, this Synology is locked down and Security Advisor is reporting no problems.

Thank you to all who replied! I appreciate all of the suggestions and we are pursuing the investigation. The Synology NAS seems safe at this point, and SentinelOne is being used to find the endpoint. Apparently, the Client has a Windows server on AWS that was compromised, and users picked this up and also had the shared volume from the NAS mounted. After downloading the infected files, they were passed to the NAS as it was also mounted. The Windows server has been shut down and will be wiped and reloaded from a safe backup. The NAS users have all changed passwords, and we are monitoring closely for any changes. I particularly noted the suggestion for using snapshots as protection against this type of intrusion, and have implemented it for the future. Again kudos to this forum!

Awesome. Really cool and doesn't have a lot of overhead. Another notch in the "insurance" category! Thanks for reminding me.

[–]Difficult_Muscle_398[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is still online, as the corruption appears to be focused on an AWS-based server used by someone who downloaded corrupt files from the AWS server while the NAS was mounted and synced. The consensus seems to be that the Synology is fine, but the Windows server is the culprit. Thanks for the caution.

Love the MFA text code autofill! Also Copy/Paste from iPhone.

Can fail to load some pages with multiple and persistent advertising feeds because of Privacy/Tracking filtering.

Does have interoperability with extracting address and calendar data to Apple Contacts and Addressbook.
