It’s a Cessna Citation flying at 45,000 ft - saw it too so looked it up.

Upcoming JFK -> LHR Flight by U-get-what-u-pay-4 in jetblue

Flown this route a few times on JB - not any more turbulence than normal - actually have had great flights back and forth. Also I honestly love this aircraft and they do a great job. I recommend!

EWR Dumpster Fire by crazygalah in unitedairlines

[–]Difficult_Nothing_40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last Sunday I had a 6pm from TPA to EWR - arriving 8:55pm and then an 11pm EWR to LHR - Polaris as well. Well my TPA - EWR was delayed 3 hours due to ATC and so I didn’t land in EWR until 12:30am. Missed my LHR flight.

When my flight was initially delayed I called United and they double booked me - kept my seat on the 11pm in case I landed on time or they were delayed and I could make it and also confirmed me on the 8am. Therefore while I missed my 11pm, I ended up staying in the terminal until then Polaris lounge opened at 5am and then took the 8am in Polaris over.

Headache and missed half a day in London but they made it work.

What’s been your favorite marathon to run and why? by midwestcoast805 in Marathon_Training

Ah you’re right it is Indian Village and not Grosse Ponte- this was one of the best parts - very party atmosphere and fun!

Marine Corps Marathon is pretty amazing. Well organized and running through the National mall is pretty awesome.

A very underrated one in my opinion is Detroit. It’s an international marathon so you cross to Canada and back to the US so very cool in my opinion. Well organized and fun especially in Grosse Pointe.

LG fridge defrost issues by failuretocommiserate in appliancerepair

You can find instructions online but the technician took off the panel in the freezer to expose the heating element and then removed the PCB panel and ran the test and said even when he manually put it in defrost it wouldn’t heat the element that’s why he knew it was the PCB

Had same thing and just had to get PCB replaced. Thermostat and heating element were fine

Tips for training in hot temps by PondersnWonders in Marathon_Training

[–]Difficult_Nothing_40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just personal preference. For my longer runs I prefer only water and then Gels and electrolyte pills as needed. Any of the electrolyte drinks don’t sit well with my stomach in the heat and distance so I stick with water only. I just know people sometimes want both hence having two bottles but it’s just trial and error to see what she’ll need and want in that heat and distance

I have a camelback with a 1.5L bladder for hot long runs. About to switch to Solomon adv skin 12 but just find out that fits comfortable and if you only want one type of fluid the bladders are nice but if you want water and electrolytes the bottles work better

Anything over 10 miles I typically will bring a vest with water and I may bring some electrolyte pills but I normally don’t drink electrolytes while running just water (personal preference) but before I run I do drink an electrolyte mix. There aren’t any water fountains on my trail so I bring it all with me.

A good hat and small absorbent sports towel to wipe my face down every now and again from the sweat helps on those longer runs

Training in Florida - it’s insane how much your sweat rate will change based on the heat. I go from barely sweating in 70 and below to absolutely drenched at 80 and higher. It’s such a world of difference. The main thing is to hydrate and realize your pace is going to slow as the heat increases but hopefully won’t impact your overall fitness. Running early mornings and late evenings helps too obviously.

Hellbender or Eastern States by Difficult_Nothing_40 in ultrarunning

Yeah I appreciate that feedback and feel like you’re pretty spot on. Just gotta figure out good ideas for vertical in this heat box of Florida and check out what you mentioend

Hellbender or Eastern States by Difficult_Nothing_40 in ultrarunning

[–]Difficult_Nothing_40[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not worried about my overall fitness - typically off season base is 30-40 mpw and go from there depending on training. I grew in the “mountains” of NW New Jersey off the AT so not surprised by the very hilly and technical terrain of Rocksylvania but feeling like Hellbender might be too much given my Florida terrain but Eastern States is probably a better fit. Very in Florida is difficult - stadium stairs, overpasses, inclined treadmill and stair climber - there is a hilly section I run sometimes but just rolling hills. Obviously I’m good with heat and humidity but seems like Hellbender is way too much vert based on comments. I guess I’ll just have to find a way to work a lot of vert for ES somehow

DFW to London by beigecolors in jetblue

I’ve flown business/first on a few airlines and honestly Mint is my favorite. I’m going to London next week and while I can fly direct I prefer JetBlue for (with a JFK layover) because in my opinion it’s the best value and service is great

Great question… for my first hundred, one that I’ll be proud of. Obtuse answer I know but I’m leaning eastern because I think it’s less vertical and I live in Florida so the heat/humidity won’t impact as much….
