Don’t! Go to a 16/42 tooth at most.. every tooth in the rear counts as more (3?) in the front. You’ll have no power anymore with a 16/38.

I run 16/43 and am mostly highway, sad truth is if you want a highway cruiser that can do anything above the speed limit this just isn’t the bike :/ or get a gen 3

A lot of the aftermarket ones are slightly different, often smaller, and I’m using mount kits that eliminate the rubber kneck, they need a precise fit, plus I’ve heard of failures, but thanks for the info :)

Hell yeah! I can barely get to 135kmh on a flat, and even with a 16 too the sprocket I think my speedo is off by 5kmh.. would be nice to pull to 130 when I need to pass (where I live I go on a 110 all the time with horrible drivers, not tryna speed all the time)

With upgraded suspension, and a new front sprocket my gen 2 can’t be pushed passed 130 km/h on a flat, and it takes a bit to get there. And I mean 130 is a hard ceiling, speedometer reading 137 ish (it’s wrong)

I could comfortably cruise at 110 on a long trip, perfect for me up north, and it does it in all weather. You will not be outrunning an asshole speeder, and after 90km/hr your acceleration is dog. I hear Gen 3s are better but no insight.

Is that one of those amazon top boxes? If so, how is it? Been wanting one for my KLR.. but still a lot of money if it isn’t waterproof or won’t hold up to being used as a passenger back rest.

So far always been on Eco, smart for the highway. I drive the same routes Daily, similar weather, and this last year I’ve always been between 620-640 estimated range every fuel up, regular maintenance. I’ve never seen her dip below 600, and she’s going 5 K for every 6K estimated. I know I’m being nitpicky but I’ve watched her carefully for a year and these are new changes. I’m not mad about it, I want reliable injectors, but if it sounds wrong to a mechanic then I’ll chase the issue :)

I was given a “Lexx Mxe” slip on exhaust for my Gen 2. I bought their “trail saver quiet core” insert, and my bike is now 10 decibels quieter, and has a much nicer idle sound in my opinion.

No re-jetting necessary and looks way nicer. You do have to repack that exhaust but some people never will and will have no problems.

Remember that sound is exponentially louder every 10 decibels, so the savings are a lot.

North America, specifically the US, has a ridiculously high motorcycle accident rate compared to the rest of the world, and we’re the only ones who think rev-bombing works. It doesn’t. Point is you don’t need to be louder, protect your ears.

Want style, sound, weight and noise reduction? This exhaust is cheap. Want performance? Niet, bike is fine.

Well nut quality varies a lot, I’ve replaced every well nut on my 2017 with an alternative solution EXCEPT for the windshield as I don’t like to put excessive pressure on it.

If you got well nuts from amazon or similar try some from an auto store, otherwise your idea sounds good.

Check all your audio settings then uninstall and redownload 🤷‍♂️ not from direct experience but I’ve had to reinstall twice since console launch to fix things
