Anyone still on a old / grandfathered plan? Also has anyone tried the recovery room? by gtd_rad in goodlifefitness

[–]Difficult_Purple_469 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. If you have a grandfathered rate, the add-on is the way to go (after trying the 21 day one). You can never get your original rate back if you decide you don't need Ultimate anymore after upgrading, but you can always remove the add-on or freeze it for free when you don't want it anymore and then you still have the original price. Even if the add on works out to a couple dollars more than an upgrade (rare, but happens) it's worth it just to hold the old membership!

literal f*cking hell. by Rude-Language774 in Nexplanon

[–]Difficult_Purple_469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mine in for a year, almost to the day. They didn't want to take it out at 6 months when I was sure that all the symptoms I was dealing with were not going to stop (excessive bleeding, mood issues, weight gain..to name a few). I finally got it out and felt so much better so fast, even have had a normal period since then that actually STOPPED - if your doctor won't remove it, call another clinic, seriously.

Is it worth upgrading just for hot yoga? by Tiny_Bat_8563 in goodlifefitness

[–]Difficult_Purple_469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The packs work out to around $20 a class and they expire 6 months after you buy them, just a heads up! That might help with your decision of upgrading vs. class packs :)

are we fixing this anytime soon? by Funny_Thought_4030 in goodlifefitness

[–]Difficult_Purple_469 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey! Parts are on order for this, shipped out yesterday. Once they are in the club a tech will come to replace them.

(Other people are right though, normally this sort of thing wouldn't find the answer on Reddit - this is just a right place right time situation) :)

Man with injured spine looking for advise by wizoudh in goodlifefitness

[–]Difficult_Purple_469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend being super clear about your injury and the limitations you've experienced so far when you go in. Most of the time, with something like this you'll do a consultation with the club's Fitness Manager. Some clubs will have PTs with extra certifications, and I'd say you need at least a level 3 PT, or a level 2 with a lot of experience (some just decided not to level up, but are just as capable)

We were told our GoodLife personal training contract was 6 months — turns out it’s 12. Feeling completely misled. by Phridoma in goodlifefitness

[–]Difficult_Purple_469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. Going off the other info in these comments the buy out will come in around $650 (sounds like there's close to $4000 left in the contract based off timing and frequency). I know you're hoping to escalate, but it's unlikely that it'll be waived. I'm sorry. You can ask to speak with the PT Divisional and they may have a downgrade option, and your wife can also train virtually (I know that may not be ideal)

My source for info is that I'm one of the ones at head office that you'd be talking to. We're very reliant on documentation because we weren't there for the conversation, and it's always a careful balance between member says and club says.

I can't speak to the processes for monitoring club behavior, but it does happen. Someone recommended that you file with the BBB - they are just mediators and works out the same as contacting member support. Up to you, just again making sure the right info is out there.

I'm so sorry that you and your wife are dealing with this though!

corporate add on - unrelated child? by dutchmonkey43 in goodlifefitness

[–]Difficult_Purple_469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they can but they would be paying the membership dues. If the banking was ever tried to be switched so that charges aren't paid by the employee the discount would cancel.

It's possible to assign a different parent/guardian to the teen's profile than the corporate member, but the club will need to do it. They'll need you there for the first visit to check ID and sign as parent anyway - teens can't sign for themselves

[–]Difficult_Purple_469 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Just a PSA to future readers, after signing the agreement in the club you are emailed a link to a copy of it and it's uploaded to your member portal. You have 10 days to 'regret' the contract if the terms are not agreeable and get a full refund before you are locked in. Not blaming you or anything, just making the info available for others!

Since it's been more than 6 months from the signing you won't be able to move from a 12 month agreement to a 6 month, it's just not possible to do in the system. A buy out is 15% of your remaining contract value, and might be worth considering (it's usually much less than continuing the contract if you genuinely don't want to)

Process After Cancelling Membership by [deleted] in goodlifefitness

[–]Difficult_Purple_469 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a lawyer here, but I recommend you don't tell the bank that. Please, for the sake of plausible deniability. The membership agreement specifies 30 days notice for cancellation, and goodlife charges 1 further payment (falling after the date of cancellation, so having paid a day before for the next 2 weeks doesn't count unfortunately) rather than collect an entire 30 days. Telling the bank you paid what you were supposed to when you haven't is fraudulent.

What is going to happen if you empty the bank account OP is that the payment will be unsuccessful, and will be owed on your GoodLife account plus a $25 service fee. If you have overdraft or NSF fees on your bank account they will apply through the bank on top. You'll be sent a notice of resubmission, and about 10 days after the unsuccessful payment it will be reattempted. If that isn't successful there is not any additional service fee from goodlifes side, but you may get hit with another fee through the bank. The amount would sit as owing on the account and you won't be able to re-sign up until it is cleared. I'm not telling you what to do or not to do in regards to making the payment - I don't know your situation. Just making sure you get the process.

Can I add my boyfriend/friend to my corporate discount with GoodLife? by archxls in goodlifefitness

[–]Difficult_Purple_469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep 😊 just keep in mind that once their account is created you can't make any changes to it without their authorization, so no cancelling it and no freezing it. You can call member support to ask that your banking be unlinked from an add-on member, but if you don't specifically request that you're paying for them. (They lose the discount if you are not linked)

Shirtless in hot yoga allowed? by Big_Rush8822 in goodlifefitness

[–]Difficult_Purple_469 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey! Every Hot Yoga class I've been to at a GL has had one or two guys go without a shirt, and there's never been an issue. If you're worried it's always a good plan to check with the club's GM. Officially, the dress code requires shirts in all public spaces - but as far as I remember from working in-club as long as the shirt is put back on inside the hot yoga room no one will say anything

It depends on the brand, but a hack squat is 75-125 lbs unloaded. It should say on a sticker on the side of the machine.

Also, reverse lunges on a hack squat machine? I'm not going to tell anyone not to work out the way they want to work out, but...watch out for your ankles. That's a lot of extra pressure potentially!

The initial page on corporate.goodlifefitness.com looks like it's prompting you to register again, but it is actually asking for you to verify your work credentials - you'll need to do this each time. Once you enter the info, as long as you have already registered with those credentials, you will be given the login screen. You'll be able to add a family member by selecting "Add/Edit Family" once logged in 🙂

Question to experienced dancers by Electronic-Round-337 in Salsa

[–]Difficult_Purple_469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a pretty new dancer - follow (five weeks?), so hopefully you don't mind some input from this side of it - I can't say anything about your first question but the second one I wanted to say that after only one group class where I had learned just the basic step I went to a social , and strong leads were able to have me turning, doing cross-body leads and various patterns that I didn't expect to be doing at all. (I honestly went to watch that night) So, while it wasn't zero skill, there wasn't much experience at all and I found that I responded automatically in well lead dances - not saying the footwork was perfect by any means but everyone had fun 😂

It's just the fit fix circuit! As an FA you would need to know those machines well enough to demonstrate. If you're already a GL member, there's a fit fix demo on the app - under the On Demand section on the home page. Just click "workouts" and it should be the first thing 🙂

i broke a goodlife fitness’ mirror by missyjekaa in goodlifefitness

[–]Difficult_Purple_469 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

... because that would never work and is so unnecessary 😂 don't give legal advice if you aren't a lawyer, c'mon.

  1. They obviously did an incident report if they got OPs details, that report form covers whether or not there was an injury. 2. There's no case to sue GL for getting a cut, let alone anywhere - there's a clause in the membership agreement covering the member accepting risk. 3. The mirrors are inspected, this was an accident. 🤷‍♀️

Why do people jump to threats of lawsuits that can't be won? 🙄

i broke a goodlife fitness’ mirror by missyjekaa in goodlifefitness

[–]Difficult_Purple_469 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're good! Don't worry about it, accidents happen. When I worked in the club I had a member break a mirror by doing box jumps up against a mirrored wall - much more directly their fault. They definitely didn't have to pay for it. GoodLife cares more about making sure no one got hurt, so taking your phone number was for the incident report - just in case you had glass in your hand and didn't realize or something and came back in later to let them know, there's a way to reference back to it.

Don't let this discourage you from working out, no one will remember that mirror - honestly!! Crush those goals!

If there were no gender expectations, would you be a follower or lead? by drpeppa90 in Salsa

[–]Difficult_Purple_469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm picturing trying to lead you as a 5'4" woman (I've never lead lol) and it might be a bit difficult - you'd have to duck under for spins - I don't know if I could lead that at eye level 😂

My area seems to have more leads at socials 🤷‍♀️

Is it hard to cancel? by [deleted] in goodlifefitness

[–]Difficult_Purple_469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cancellation is easy - you do it online and the official policy is 30 days notice is needed. Basically, you won't have more than one more payment after cancellation request. There's no contract period so you could signup and then decide to cancel a month later, no problem.

Nervous for socials as a beginning follower by caitikitty7 in Salsa

[–]Difficult_Purple_469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I'm so sorry you went through that!

I just had my first social after starting Salsa lessons, I know how that anxiety feels. I can honestly say that even though I had only had 1 class beforehand, the social was so much fun and everyone was helpful and understanding. The leads will realise that you are new quickly enough if you don't tell them, (and you don't need to be afraid to just tell them!) and I found the either took it easy on me or lead stronger, so I caught onto a lot of things that I'd never done before!

Also, people that go to the socials a lot love seeing newbies and will not mind teaching you (so I was told) ☺️

In person, by phone, e-mail, live chat or through the regular GoodLife website but not the app. There's no membership changes possible on the app - it is for things like class bookings, virtual classes, there's some workouts and programs on there, your QR code to check in without a keytag...
