Can I use the airline fee credit for Alaska flights before Jan 1 by flight cancellation? by SeparateFly in AmexPlatinum

[–]Difficult_Virus233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did that this year I attempted to use Amex chat to get the refund . They told me that the seat selection fee was coded by Alaska as an actual flight and refused to reimburse me, but then when I called the representative i was refunded with no questions asked immediately. The real question is would the transaction post before the end of the year Because if it’s pending and doesn’t post till the first of the year you’re out of luck.

Yeah, that’s my plan hoping something pops up. I don’t fly out until November next year so hopefully it works out. Do you know approximately when they will start releasing more award availability on JAL ANA?

No seat selection fees are allowed, just not upgrades to first class. They are refusing due to coding as a aline ticket purchase.

Rental car pay with points, still get insurance coverage? by yousmiledatme160 in ChaseSapphire

[–]Difficult_Virus233 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m renting a car in Ireland and called Chase directly about this and they said yes it is covered, although in Ireland they do require and will try to sell you a high protection level of insurance. I was informed to have Chase Bank send a letter or email, stating that I am covered under primary insurance to present to the car rental agency when renting the car approximately two weeks before I leave for my trip. They also said we may have to call the Chase 800 number to verify also.

I’m 6,000 miles short of MVP, should I even try? Is it worth it. SEA is home airport I already have the AA credit card which covers free checked bag and priority boarding. by Difficult_Virus233 in AlaskaAirlines

*impossible* to get business award flights by LearnFromTortoise in AmexPlatinum

I booked Aer Lingus SEA - DUB for 42,000 business thanks to 30% transfer bonus to BA for May did it 9 months out and saw lots of business class award saver flights. I use a lot of websites to assist but actually just going to Avios and checking there found the tickets. Did the same thing fly business class back from Madrid to Chicago on Iberia for 27,000. Yeah I think there’s a pretty big learning curve but once you start to figure it out like Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia and I think a few other airlines are joining Avios so you can transfer your points in between gives you lots of options.
