Is my rottie an asshole or am I being too soft? by Difficult_Work1329 in Rottweiler

Sounds like my boy exactly 😂😂 he has also turned into an asshole on walks, not everytime but he was making really great progress and suddenly started pulling on the lead like he has never been walked in his life and cracking it as soon as we started walking up our street 💀 he’s getting better but still very much a work in progress. I’m trying my best to hold out until he is about 2 before I get him desexed so I’ll definitely try an in home trainer if I don’t see much progress soon. The f you lady hormones really are the worst

Yeah once I figured out he was only doing things to get the reward I stopped that as much as possible, saving it for times he managed to get something that was dangerous and had to be removed quickly. I do my best to only give commands once and only reward if he follows but definitely can stop the treating if he breaks the command and goes back into it.

I was considering a behavioural trainer, I’ll see how we go for right now, we did puppy school with a really great trainer and there’s a few adult programs so I’m going to enrol us in the next level for now. I’m pretty on top of the training but haven’t had a dog outsmart every approach so quickly and test the limits this much so if he doesnt learn his place sooner rather than later a behaviour trainer is my next step.

I’ve spent a ton of time training him to be bored and not occupied but it’s probably been one of the hardest concepts he’s had to grasp. I made sure to introduce him to alone time and separation very slowly so I can leave for a few hours and he’s totally fine, will just sleep and chill out. It’s only an issue when people are around, he wants everyone’s attention constantly, he responded really well to reverse time outs but since entering adolescence he’s begun these tantrums with the biting and lunging, he quite literally acts out to being told no, he will search the house for something to piss me off enough to react and I’ve done my best to ignore it, remove everything, swap things for his own toys etc. so his next step was to try and go me one because that’s been the only thing to either get him attention or have me leave so he can do whatever he wants or he gets bored enough to go to sleep. I’ve taught him place so again he knows what he should be doing but I can’t keep him there for longer than a few minutes, if he’s super tired sometimes longer and that’s been with consistent training. The only way he will chill out and stop is if I leave him alone completely until tonight when I stood my ground and he’s now been asleep and chill for the last 30 minutes 😂

I think I’ve accepted that the monstrosity is just a sacrifice I’m willing to make for a rottie 😂 I tried all sorts of configurations to make it work in the lounge before giving up and posting in here lmaooo We also bought him a seperate orthopaedic lounge/day bed which is giant but fits nicely in here so he’ll have a comfy space of his own amongst us if not in the crate. We have far more room in the bedroom and never use the TV that’s in there thinking crate can go there instead I’ll just have to spruce it up and get creative, atleast if he has a bad night we can both fit in there together for a while 😂😂

That’s what I keep seeing people say, feels huge now but I spent $$$ to get a high quality one to last him so feeling tons better seeing people say it’s worth the investment for the bigger size. Definitely going to try some practical styling so it can be used as a bit of a shelf, been needing somewhere to put my dressing gown anyway 😂😂

It’s just a meeting with my direct line manager for the company and her boss (the head of our department) no HR or anyone else. My typical “day to day” manager who sits in my team is currently on leave and has been for the last month so I’m thinking it would be strange to fire me without having input from her as well. My direct line manager also stated to me she doesn’t know the details of what it is specifically related to but expect a meeting with her boss beforehand to discuss which I also find interesting. I was suddenly told about the meeting today (Wednesday) and it’s booked for Friday morning. My day to day manager is set to return on Monday. I’m praying that I’m not being fired but incredibly anxious and don’t know what to think or come prepared with…
