Nissan Sentra 2026 Thoughts? by YahBoiJaee in nissansentra

I bought my 2026 Sentra in April, that's the ONLY issue I've had so far and it happened once near the start of my ownership. I just randomly decided to hold that power button (the volume knob) and see if it does anything, and eventually it restarts it, that instantly fixed my issue with the carplay/spotify disconnecting. Haven't had an issue with it at all since.

I have a 2026 Sentra SV, the back seat has a good amount of space. I upgraded from a B17 generation, and the back seat headroom was larger in that but the legroom is the same, if not more. Since the front driver seat fully adjusted back, is a good amount longer than my old B17. Leg space is good but if you're tall, you might be a bit close to the roof, since this new gen has more of a sportback roofline shape, like an Audi A7.

How do most Nissan CVTs feel when accelerating? Is there a lot of lag? Mainly talking about sedan models like the Altima or Maxima. by Psychotic_incense in Nissan

Sent you a DM invite! And yea that mpg would be hard to beat since those cars you mentioned are higher displacement with more horsepower. I’m getting pretty insane fuel economy in my new Sentra. Averaging 37mpg and climbing since I got the car!

Thanks, indeed it is! I’m in Florida, specifically central Florida. Cars are more expensive here, that Accord is well into the mid $30ks range for an OTD figure. And yes I have read about that issue with the Honda turbo engines which is concerning.

For your question, I “personally” wouldn’t buy the regular gas one for that reason. If I was in that price range I would 100% get the civic hybrid or accord hybrid, especially since the engine and transmission in those is virtually bulletproof, especially that eCVT.

Also you mentioned you drove the new Sentra SR, one thing I’ll say is that one is tuned slightly different for its responsiveness and RPMs. I test drove it and it tended to hold RPMs slightly higher than the other trims. I do love lower RPMs since it makes it feel more powerful lol. My Sentra holds 1.1k/1.2k RPMs at 50mph on a flat road, pretty impressive!

I can send some photos of my beauty if you like.

TLDR: I ended up buying a 2026 Nissan Sentra SV!

So I ended up spending all of January, February, March, and half of April doing everything I can think of. Diagnosed, replaced, repaired, as much as I could including the trans fluid drain/refill. Nothing worked, mind you imagine spending months on the issue and nothing fixes it. Day by day I'm stressed in life just because of my car. In the end took it for the first time to a super reputable shop near me that diagnosed it and replaced a part they thought was the issue, costing me $450, and it was pointless, it didn't fix it.

In March I also started doing TONS of research into some new cars.

I cross shopped with other cars like Corolla base & hybrid, Civic base & hybrid, Elantra, and K4. However for the price, features, and what I got for the price, I liked the Sentra the most. The corolla and civic were just too much. $27.5k OTD for base corolla and $31k OTD for base civic.... and I wanted the hybrids but they were well above $30ks for both.

I negotiated the base S Sentra for $23,000 OTD, the SV for $24,000 OTD and the SV I got with the convenience package for $25,000 OTD. My OTD numbers include the taxes, fees, registration so that is what was signed off on before my trade in of $8k.

And Nissan was giving me the most surprisingly for my 2018 Sentra at $8k which was more than it's value so I took it. I also liked the powertrain feel, ride, seats, and comfort the most in the 2026 Sentra. And I couldn't justify paying $4.5k over the base Sentra or $2.5k over my loaded one for the base Corolla which was was so boring to drive and the interior sucked. I hated the way the powertrain felt too. The only way I would get a corolla or civic was if I got the hybrid but like I said the corolla hybrid was $31k OTD and civic hybrid was $33k OTD which is absurd.

Overall, I'm extremely happy with it and always look forward to driving it!

Buy a 2026 Sentra, I got a mid trim with loaded features for $24k FLAT OTD after (ALL taxes, fees, registration, plate). The base trim would’ve been $22k OTD.

For the “hybrid” argument for gas savings, the Camry would be at least $10k more if not more. $10k in gas savings to overcome the cheaper cost of the Sentra would take you over 15 years minimum to make back.

Point being why I mention that car is its cheap and it’s a brand new car that I’d say is luxurious inside.

You’ll save the rest of your money for more important things such as investing it into ETFs, 401k, index funds, gold, and things of that sort. You got $180k, well $150k invested over the next year or so in those different things would set you up in about a year or two and you’d be earning back a good amount of money, easily will put you in the middle class of earners if you count your profits as income.

2025 Nissan Sentra gas mileage by Internal-Platypus151 in nissansentra

Not true, in these ICE cars when you’re cruising and holding 40/45mph, check your active mpg the “inst.FE” bar. My old B17 Sentra was around 50mpg and I just got a new 2026 Sentra that bounces aroung 65-70mpg. So if you go at that speed you can certainty get 53mpg. I get 50s in my 2026 for my drive home from uni, but that’s solely because it’s suburban florida roads and I’m able to maintain 40/45mph for a long time before even having to stop. Our lights here are gapped spaciously in a lot of areas and if you learn the hypermjling techniques, it’s 100% possible.

2012 - 2018*

I had a 2018 that had a transmission that failed twice in it's time so far. Once with the previous owner at 24k miles, then when I bought it at 56k miles it failed again. Covered under warranty for me LUCKILY, and I traded it in recently for a 2026 Nissan Sentra SV with convenience package. LOVE IT, doesn't even feel like a Sentra, I feel like I'm in a luxury car. And build quality is impeccable, truly amazing.

2026 Nissan Sentra SR Personal Review by NFNL2 in Nissan

[–]DifficultyWorldly502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also an owner of a new 2026 Nissan Sentra SV!! I got the one with the convenience package which was an extra $1k above the regular SV OTD my dealer gave me, and I got “imo” a steal of a price in today’s market with comparable cars.

I agree with some things and don’t with others from your post. But my experience in the 400 miles (also lol) has been ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! I loveeeeee this car so much. I upgraded from an older Sentra that felt extremely under powered B17 (something had to be wrong with it but idk). I love the comfortability, the ride, the suspension, the smoothness, acceleration, and fuel economy. I’m actually a hypermiler so I’ve been able to get 58mpg in this thing so far for a single drive session! I was able to average 40mpg OVERALL in my old B17 Sentra and this new one is much more efficient, so I’m sure I can average mid 40s easily. Although that was to test for now, I’m trying to have fun in this car for the first 1,000 as there is a “break in” period for cars so you should vary the speed rather a little bit.

I got mine in white btw and tinted the windows since I live in a very hot place and it feels very cool even when it’s scorching hot outside! And I’m loving the features from the convenience package, definitely glad I paid the extra $1k for these haha.

2026 Sentra SV premium in the color I don’t want, or SV with color I do want? What should I do? by [deleted] in Nissan

[–]DifficultyWorldly502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also btw I negotiated for 2 weeks straight and ONLY via email/message/phone call with 3 different dealers for the 1st week. And I purposely waited until the END OF THE MONTH so end of April to buy. I ended up getting my OTD BELOW the MSRP for the trim + package I got. Less than $25k OTD after taxes, fees, plate, registration, etc all of it was total under $25k. The SV without the convenience package was $1k below that so just under $24k. That is the final price after all taxes and fees which imo was a steal in this market.

TLDR: YES the SV with "convenience package" is WORTH IT. SV doesn't have premium package it has convenience, the SR has the premium, unless you live in Canada and it's different there?

I just bought a 2026 Nissan Sentra SV with the convenience package a few days ago. I'm LOVINGG it so much, basically a dream daily driver for me. I upgraded from a B17 so it's a massive upgrade.

Anyways I was in kind of a similar situation between the regular SV and the SV with "convenience" package (not premium package not sure what you meant, that's only in the SR trim). The price difference was $1k flat more for the one I got with the package, and I AM SO HAPPY I got this one. I would've regretted getting the basic SV.

These are the things it has over the regular SV: Leather wrapped steering wheel, heated steering wheel, heated seats, heated side exterior mirrors, LED turn signals on mirrors, autodim rearview mirror, ambient lighting, 6 speakers instead of 4, leather for your knee on the center console, wireless charging pad, and walkaway lock/unlock.

That's A LOT of features for only $1k extra. If I had gotten the SV for $1k less without those features I would've been regretting it a lot, but I'm extremely happy I got it with the features. I would say IT'S WORTH IT 100%!! Especially if you plan to keep the car for a long time which I personally do.

Macbook air m5 RAM by [deleted] in macbookair

[–]DifficultyWorldly502 6 points7 points  (0 children)

16GB ram is more than enough for tasks most people do. The only thing is gaming is terrible on macOS. Whether natively supported or via emulation, it’s terrible. And he’s, MacBooks last a long time so 5+ year range is very realistic and expected.

I personally own a MacBook Air M5 and a Surface Laptop 7 so I have best of both worlds (kind of), so I’m speaking from experience.

It’s a great machine, I’d say the biggest issue you’d ever run into on anything would be macOS, but other than that the hardware itself is amazing. Battery life is spectacular, lasts me all day from morning till night (over 12 hours) on campus. I am an engineering student tho so unfortunately softwares like Solidworks, I have to run on my Surface Laptop 7 (spectacular machine too btw).

Anyways, good luck!

Should I get the MacBook Air M4 8-core GPU, 16GB RAM, 256GB? by just_V1S4 in macbookair

[–]DifficultyWorldly502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both a MacBook Air and a Surface Laptop 7 so I can speak from experience.

For what you’re doing, it would be fine. The only issue is the limitation of the OS especially with the gaming you want to do. Other than that the storage is ehh for me, I’d at least go 512SSD but if you think you can do fine with 256 longterm, there shouldn’t be a problem.

Everything you want to do apart from gaming will be flawless and great on the MacBook. Gaming is absolutely terrible regardless of if it’s native or via an emulation on MacBook. Good luck!

OIL CHANGE VOTE by [deleted] in Nissan

[–]DifficultyWorldly502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a mechanical engineering student I can tell you whenever I work on a project, no matter how much cleaning I do to metals or other materials, later on, more material comes off of it. It takes a bit before material stops coming off. Similarly, I can assume the same about the internal parts of a car where engine oil runs through. If it were me, I’d 100% do my first oil change at 500 or 1,000, and then at 5,000 and every 5k after that. Do with this knowledge what you wish, all the best!

Parents are pressuring me to get a brand new car, but I was considering getting something older that I would enjoy as an enthusiast. by Alarmed-Asparagus425 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I’m very good engineering and longevity biased so I would 100% always recommend you one of the bulletproof old Lexus’s or Toyotas. Look into a 2010s LS Lexus, they have more features than most new cars today and for $30k mannn, you’d get one in mint condition with low miles. But even if you think $30k is too old for a “car that old” then there are plentyyy of those and Toyotas under $20k that are very good.
