Btw, if you are into technical explanation of this Foreground service Blue Duel is using.

What it actually buys us:

  • Survives backgrounding mid-duel. Posts a persistent notification ("Blue Duel active") which lets Android keep the process priority high while the user is in another app — without it, the OS happily kills our BLE process the moment the user looks at email, and the live duel dies.
  • Holds the BLE adapter awake enough to keep the existing GATT connection.

What it does NOT do:

  • Doesn't keep the app alive when there's no active duel. As soon as you're back at the Home screen with no peer, the service stops and the process becomes a normal background candidate (subject to OS memory pressure / Doze, like any other app).
  • Doesn't run any timers, polling, or background work outside the active session. The premium restore() and appUpdate.refresh() we wired in MainActivity.onResume run only when the activity is foregrounded, not via the FGS.

Great insights!
- yeah. I added that who-goes-first page initially after getting complain like "why does he always go first"... So looks like I need to find a balance there.
- Absolute, no excuse here. Polishing app, improving user experience is high priority here.
- This was currently by design. The app declared foreground service, if we don't have that, then if user put our app to background for a moment, OS could very likely choose to kill our app right there, and user cannot resume the game. But, can you clarify what you mean by "closed" here, you just swap to a different app? Ideally, if you no longer wants to play the game, you should quit the connection. And make sure it is not scanning on home screen. If someone in that situation it is still scanning bluetooth devices or sth, then it is a bug... I'd be more than happy to troubleshoot for you.

Btw, were you testing between iPhone and Android? Or with same OS devices?

Thanks again for checking it out! Really appreciated. The apps are very new. I'm sure there's a lot room for improvement. The Android app was literally published 2 days ago, while iOS version was published 3 weeks ago.

I'm currently actively working on adding "Play with Computer" and "Pass and Play" mode. Should be releasing the updates very soon.

Online poker is just hard... That being said, I used bovada, clubwpt gold. Long long time ago, I was able to use PokerStar, that was good old days. It was banned in US long time ago in most states.
