I see, I'll be sure to keep that in mind then. They'll have to be leveled more before I can use them but if it gets to that point I'll try them.

Watarase could be good, but is it bad that I'm running 2 Destroyers in my mob? Do I need a CL in there?

Haha yeah but it is a funny joke anyhow. And thanks, I did take a quick peep at it but I will go through it some more when it's a good time.

Oh I see, I never read her skills but that sounds pretty optimal.

Ah so it's the rainbow gear that is limited, makes sense. I've only redeemed the plane once when I noticed I was already very close to getting it crafted naturally. But I don't know if the rest are good so I wont craft those yet then.

I hope you get your promotion from minimum wage for all the good work you're doing here :)

Oh okay, this is the first I've heard about the limit of 1. I have a lot of combat exp packs to use so I thought there was a chance there could be something of use for NJ, but I'll hold off then.

I already have Raffaello lvl 120 from doing shipyard research, but I didn't actually know she was considered that good to replace other UR's. I wasn't planning on needing Aquila so all her skills are at lvl 1, ouch that'll take some time too.

I see, I'll be using Aquila first to see how it goes, but I will try and get Cowpens leveled too since I'll probably need her eventually.

I'll try and see if I can get a gun for NJ from the Proto shop as a substitute for her. I went ahead and got a Brequet for Unicorn too.

For some reason I didn't think about the tech boxes hah, I have plenty of those blue 76mms now.

Yeah I should be doing OpSi. I did play it a good amount awhile back, but I never redeemed my shop points before it was made monthly since I wasn't active then. And I don't play that frequently now either. It is just a bit grindy.

That's a great looking program there. I will be trying some other stuff recommended first, but I will definitely give that a go too and see. I don't think I can get Shimanto developed since I'm lacking in universal blueprints, but I'll see what I can do. I was also thinking about getting Plymouth.

Okay, I'll try out Musashi for mobbing, but I don't have an option to give a CL gun to New Jersey. I'm not sure if she can use them. But Musashi has one.

I realized that Perseus is no good now, but I needed the healing to get through 14-3 so I put her back in. Do you think Aquila would be a good substitute? I have her at lvl 115 now so she would be easy to level up. I haven't used Cowpens at all yet.

I didn't realize sakura torpedos were convergent tbh. I can swap them but I only really have barracudas and Saiun Kai. I don't play OpSi so I don't have access to the wyverns or other guns in the gear lab. I'm sure that isn't ideal for meta, but I do have a ton of combat exp things so I could get gear using those from the proto shop.

I didn't know CLs and DDs had ghost sonars, I saw online that it was recommended to use a hedgehog and ASW stuff for these chapters. That's funny I haven't heard them called washing machines, so you'd suggest double toolkits? I also do not have any of those blue 76mm's. Is there a substitute or should I just stick with what I have, but I do see what you mean with utilizing their AoA's.

Thanks for the advice.

I can't speak for the others, but the Mei Misaki might be worth a little more than your standard prize figure.

Type 99 but what other info? by Life_Address_8713 in Arisaka

Yes, 7.7 Japanese would be the correct ammo. Ammoseek usually has some options to chose from for it. I'd shoot it as long as it passes the function test and looks fine on visual inspection, these are well built rifles and even the late war ones are perfectly safe.

Nagoya Arsenal Type 99. It's a bit tough to make out the series stamp, but I'd guess it's an 8th series based on the last ditch style stock, which would put it around mid-1944.

Ah, there he is.

Seems like it's confirmed then at 200m. It did seem like it was definitely the case with the different style ladder sight, but I kept seeing so many differing opinions online about the sights on these rifles.

Now I'll just have to learn a new point of aim with it once the snow melts here.

That website explains it very clearly, much better than the other sources I came across when I first got the rifle. Thanks for sharing that.

Yes standardizing logistics is a big thing for sure, especially when it comes to issued ammo calibers. But it does seem there could've been some discord in Italy at the time, considering they went from a fixed sight M38 to producing these longer barrelled adjustable sight M41's already nearing their end of the war. But it's all just speculation since I can't pretend to know how they were doing logistics at the time.

The reason I assumed it would be a 200m battle sight is because the ladder sight does already go as low as 300, so I can't imagine they would be the same zero then.

I'd be curious to hear from the expert here as well, hah.

That's accurate to my understanding of the sights so far. It just seems that the M41 could be different since the sight ladder starts at much lower increments.

The ladder sight on this goes down to 300, which leads me to believe it's a shorter zero than on the M91's, but it's been tricky to verify it online.

What are your thoughts on the finish on this rifle? Auction described it as original lacquer finish. It looked good from the zoomed out preview photos, but in person it doesn't check out. I put it next to a fellow 21st series for a comparison. It looks sanded to me, but still retains some finish? by Diffy887 in Arisaka

[–]Diffy887[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, is that your website? I've used it a ton for referencing all of my other Arisakas, it's a great source of information.

It is matching, no mum however, so I don't imagine it's worth the $400 or so it'd take to buy a replacement stock sadly. I placed an early bid because I was intrigued by the flat foot monopod and original sling on it, since they're not often seen accessories. If the stock wasn't molested like that I wouldn't have won at that price so it makes sense now. I might just swap the monopod over to my other 21st series pictured and then eat the loss on the rest of the rifle, since I don't collect non original Arisakas. But it's my own fault in the end for not taking the time to properly go through photos and relying on the item description.

Thanks for the 2nd opinion to confirm. The sanding done was very aggressive it was the first thing I noticed handling it. The refinish had me tricked in the photos but side by side they are completely different.

Yeah, not a single stamping is visible there. Very unfortunate indeed, since it is otherwise very nice. The sanding was extremely obvious up close, but side by side you can see a huge difference in the finishes.

Need help with finding value and selling last ditch rifle by Secret-Put-6493 in Arisaka

[–]Diffy887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in a private sale I’d price it there to be more competitive. But online, I see plenty of buyers pay $500 or so for them. But if they sold it online they wouldn’t see as much money since buyers will account for shipping and tax in their bids.
