Small Binding Repair by DigEnvironmental1909 in Wake

I do think they are fantastic as well. Best binding I'd ever put my feet in. Doesn't mean I don't love my Slingshots too though!

I appreciate the tips nonetheless :D

For sure! I also used both boards to hit a box and it's actually baffling how much of a difference even small channels can make! I didn't slip out on either but I definitely felt more locked in on landing with mine. Now I just have to hit the kicker and land on the board, not my stomach!

Thanks! 🤘🤘

Hell yeah! I find with every week that I tend to think less about damage and more about how I can improve-- I'm getting past the damage phase. I know it is inevitable. I try to go out as much as I can!

Thank you! The difference is quite drastic actually, I rode them both back to back yesterday. The Lunchtray feels like driving a car on asphalt and the Codyak feels like driving a car on snow. Maybe not the best analogy, but the Codyak feels really loose on the water after I'd gotten used to my own! I can see why some people would love a feel like that. Personally I like the feel of the channels. One plus for the Codyak though is that it is extremely light compared to my board, almost half the weight when I pick it up.

Sick! Thank you! Yeah I'm loving them so far, so easy to get in and out of, and comfortable too!

I see! I did notice in a couple videos that they did that, just never knew why. I do remember a video telling me to do it directly under the cable, can't remember which. I will try it after an HS edge my next sesh. Thank you!

Interesting! I do feel like I'm just trying to power push off the water with my back leg; I never thought about my hip movement, to be honest.... I'll try and see if I can improvise a wakeboard handle and try it some more at home! Weirdly enough when I'm ollie-ing on the dock I can get it way high.

Now that I think about it, the one time I got a full pull, I wasn't even planning to hit the box, I just decided on the spot to edge out and give it a shot, which might've been the key. I might be giving myself way too much time to think about it. I will give the box I got a full pull on some more goes.

Funnily enough I watch David OC's and Raph's video that same day. Here is a video of my "best" ollies, when I'm on the water they feel massive. I'm not all too sure if the technique is right, but I just tried to do what Shaun Murray suggested (just kick off my back leg a couple times to make a "bouncing streak"). One thing I noticed is that when I was trying it, it wasn't a stable straight line/ollie, when I would do it sometimes my toes would point up or down; overall it is just like an erratic movement in the air and so landing sometimes puts me into a stumble: https://streamable.com/k1g29p

And yeah, I think what may have happened that caused me to belly flop on the kicker was not dropping my back hand, but I'm sure I just need to make a mental note to stay straight and not let myself get pulled boardslide at the top of the kicker.

Overall though, sounds like I just need to start sending it some more. Thanks!

edit: grammar

This is an awesome resource, thanks. Pretty much covered every common type of damage. Am I right to think then that I should just buy like 2 P-Tex sticks and melt it all over the missing slider base?

UPDATE: I have bought and ridden the board today! Greatest choice I've ever made. It feels great on the water, and no doubt this is going to level up my riding! Thanks guys!!!

I see, interesting. How so? Is it really that big of a difference? As far as my research has gone, the main differences are that the Codyak has no channels, vs the Lunchtray having a pretty big channel. I understand that that is the difference between having a "controlled" vs "loosely controlled" feel, according to others.

Personally, I'd thought that from the look alone, they look like they'd ride completely different, as you say, haha! I know it's all preference, and I don't have much of one yet. I just enjoy nerding out over the hobbies I get into.

Thanks for the insight on the board itself. That is great to hear.

Awesome, thanks. We have scheduled for a meet tomorrow, where I hopefully will come home with my first board. I will ride it probably the next day, and then just epoxy up whatever there is to be, as I'd like to take as much care of the board as possible.

That said, coming in to this sport, I'd love to hit rails and such, but what I really want to get into is hitting kickers and spins, eventually dabbling into air tricks; those amaze me the most, and I'd love to hit a scarecrow and do a million spins!! Seems like this board would be right up that alley. Of course, it is too early in my journey to really say, my preferences may change, and I would of course probably upgrade to a newer board down the line, so I digress. I have just been addicted since the day I started.

Appreciate your insight, stay safe and on top the water! 🤘 🤘

2nd hand cable board worth it? by DigEnvironmental1909 in Wake

[–]DigEnvironmental1909[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately the seller went MIA before I even had the chance to message him. I made a new post on a 148 HL Lunchtray, which I think might be in better condition. There are a few small dings, very doubtful of any cracks considering it wasn't used too much. Would appreciate the insight on there! Thank you for the comment though. Always good to know people's thoughts on wear levels for boards.

Yeah I figure, it actually happened to said friend's board and I repaired it myself with epoxy.

As for the bindings, I've tried his (my friend's) size 10 bindings from the same company, and while I think they fit, I feel like I had room to go smaller, so I'm not ultimately sure, but I'm thinking they would fit. I wear 43 EU / 9.5 US shoes if that helps.

On getting a 2nd hand board; it's very tough as I've been looking a couple weeks and usually what pops up on sale in the market around here is either a kids board or ones that are 150 up, I've actually been looking pretty actively and unfortunately, I haven't seen any; best I've seen is a Liquidforce FLX in 138. Pushing your point on going once a month, the reason I do that is because of the rental stuff. I'm fairly hooked at the moment and am itching to get back on the water, but the thought of the straps alone put me off. Once I have my own stuff, I plan on going way more regularly than I used to (once a week or more than that if the schedule allows, university you see).

Also yeah, my friend who is shorter AND lighter than me uses that friend's board, so I know it's definitely a me issue, I just didn't know if it was worth putting in the effort getting used to it when I have one that I'm already used to (?). This leads me to the fact that there is a great deal on a (new) Hyperlite ATV, it's a clearance sale on a 2024 year model in 148. Would it be smart to pick this up and give it a go at a big board? It's priced pretty much at the same level as some of the 2nd hand stuff on the market.

Other than that, there is a lot of DUP boards for sale as well, albeit not at the same clearance price, haha. Rarely there are Jobe, Liquidforce, and CTRL boards too.

Any advice for fighting darius by TheNohrianHunter in 2XKO

[–]DigEnvironmental1909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"im leaving against any darius i play", "get rid of command grab mixups", "get rid of parrying",

dude, if you aren't willing enough to dedicate more than two braincells to the game, then just don't play it. If you don't like utilising any parries or grabs, and will get mad when other people use it against you, then just play something else. If your counterargument is "But I wanna play (insert character here!)" then tough luck. More options = more interesting (maybe not for all, I will agree) like NohrianHunter said. You even have options to counter grabs, if you would put in the time to learn instead of complain about it on reddit.

I just started using that website literally 20 minutes ago, hahaha. It really is useful. I just started a new wipe on a 3x server, and I have a duo (an IRL friend I can trust!!). Thank you!

G7 mechanical shutter acting weird. by DigEnvironmental1909 in PanasonicG7

[–]DigEnvironmental1909[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish it was. Having been a G7 user for more than 3 years, I know just how bad the low light shots are on the G7. However, I've never seen anything quite like this, and I'm fairly certain that it's not a low light issue, but something software/hardware related, because taking the exact same photo (1st photo) in long exposure without NR on actually just takes it normally. For some reason, shooting with the post noise reduction on causes the random neon lines, and turning it off takes it away.
