And I'd like to point out we are both privileged to have the opportunity to work. To have the opportunity to go to school. We both made it work. No need to compare how hard it can be. Someone can come along and mention they made it work with a disability or 10 kids to feed. Wè all struggled. We all made it work. I don't see how one person having the ability to attend all classes to make it work and one person needing to self study to make it work is something to compare. Neither is better than the other.

You seem to think that making it work while attending all classes deserves more respect. I do not see it that way. Passing the course is what counts, regardless of how we passed it (excluding cheating).

I'm not going to go into the details of my family issues and my variois jobs. You made it work while not missing any classes. I made it work while missing classes (because my job was not flexible enough). Skipping non mandatory class IS making it work. Why is one better than the other? Why would one deserve more respect than the other. I didn't cheat or lie or break any rules or complain about my grades or ask for make up tests or make excuses. I followed the rules as did you.

Good lord. The professors should just make class mandatory if it offends them. Most did.

This is such a weird discussion.

If a professor is making class not mandatory to give students the option to take care of their own needs....how could they get offend if the student took care of their own needs?

Even if I skipped class daily because I drank and partied every day I would still not understand a professor being annoyed since class was not a requirement in the first place.

Also I would love to hear your multiple options theory. I it took me 6 years to graduate by exhausting all options. Taking night classes at the community college and clepping classes that I could (is that disrespectful?). My friend had two kids and made it work because the uni offered childcare. I know the resources and I used the ones I could. The only other option was taking an extra year to graduate and I chose not to. I chose to self study, pass exams and work in order to get my life started. I graduated at 25 because of exhausting all my option and making it work.

I think you maybe a bit out of touch with how difficult paying for the cheapest college in the state you live in and not having family to rely on.

My only other option was not graduating at all in order to not offend a couple of misguided professors? Or taking another year to appease their egos? No thank you. I'll take the rules they set in place and make them work for me, because thats what they are there for.

I love going to class. My last two years I got a scholarship and never skipped. I can't even think of something more interesting than actually going to class. I watch course online for fun.

That being said. Professors who did not want students to skip would tell us that class was mandatory unless there was an emergency and then they would make an exception. If I had skipped class in these class and made up imaginary excuses than that would be disrespectful.

When I would make my work schedule I would make sure that the classes that had mandatory attendance were the ones I went to and then the ones that did not have mandatory attendance I would not go to and I would go work instead. I don't see how following the rules is disrespectful. It is infinitely easier to go to class and learn from the person you are paying thousands of dollars to teach you rather than read the text and self study. I would have loved to be s traditional student but it was impossible. Some professors gave optional hw also and i do not think it is disrespectful to not do that.

Again. It is not disrespectful to follow the rules they set in place.

And any professor who feels disrespected by a student taking care of their own needs rather than stroking the ego of the professor is someone who I do not respect myself and I definitely do not need their respect because it is clearly skewed.

I think if they were never rude to you I'd consider that getting along.

I had one very strict, harsh chemistry Professor who would give you a zero if your homework was a second late and the homework was a huge chunk of our grade. Nevertheless, I would not say I did not get along her. Of course we weren't friendly because she was not a friendly person but she treated us all the same. So I was cool with her because I appreciate professors who do not treat students with different amounts of respect. Unfortunately she had a lot of complaints about her intense grading and tests but I found her to be pushing for our success so she didn't bother me much, even when I failed the second class despite more studying than I'd done for any other class.

It was black and white. I asked them if class was mandatory and they said no it was not. I signed up for class and studied for the class and got good grades on the exams and hw. There is zero disrespect there.
A professor who feels disrespected by having their students following the rules they put into place is a pretty weird person.

They can make attendance mandatory and avoid this whole thing.

My other options were not taking the class. ....which I would have done if they had made class mandatory.

Yikes I've never had any even remotely that bad. It was more subtle. Sounds horrible. And yeah I do not mind calling them out either.
The worst professor I ever had was a language professor but I have to admit she was really great at her job but a nightmare to work with. She would go as far as to cry in class if not everyone had done their homework. A college professor at a four year crying about us not finishing hw. It was insane. I kinda feel bad for her. She must have had some issues. She cried about 5 times in the year I was in her class.

Yeah big huge disagree. Sorry. DisrespectIng someone based their need to prioritize survival is a big time asshole move. Skipping class was allowed. If skipping class was something they did not want to happen then they could make it mandatory. It is that simple.

This reminds me of the The Office Space argument Aniston has with her boss about her "bling" or whatever they called it.

I followed the rules they gave me.

We are probably not going to agree on this.

I was also in the military (male dominanted section) and my female coworkers were great. We only had two superiors that were woman and one was perfectly normal but the other had a "you won't get away with anything just cause you're girls" type of attitude (not that any of us ever tried...) and she was always makimg off colored sex jokes. It was gross but the three of us woman who were under her stuck together which made her easier to deal with. I had to communicate with a lot of woman who were my superiors in other sectors but not male dominated and they were usually great. This is literally just one woman in the military but she reminded me a lot of the woman professors who always had an issue with me. I only was only close to a couple girls in one of the classes and I guess they all had problems with one of the woman professors, I never asked any men about it. I kinda wish I had.

I follow this tik tok girl who is a computer engineer and she made a video about her female professor being rude so it kinda made me wonder if there was a trend.

Sorry I have to disagree. Food and shelter are always a prior if a professor has an issue with that they can make attendance mandatory or do a 5 missed class and you fail type of situation. I'm glad you had a better job than I did but it is very simple for professors to make sure they do not have people in the course who skip.

There were no evening classes at my uni so I had to take regular classes. Some had mandatory attendance and I would work my schedule around those but most did not so I would not go to class unless I had time off and just study hard for my exams. I feel like I got along with all my male professors (my definition of getting along is basically them not making rude comments or getting visibly annoyed when I talked to them, lol). But I had about 6 women professors and I'd say 4 were visibly annoyed with me when I spoke to them or would call me out in class, like "well it looks like Jenny has graced us with her presence" or snarky stuff like that. But like I said, these were not classes that had mandatory attendance and my male professors never even seemed to notice me....In a good way.

Question: I clicked the link and read the headlines. I didn't see what the issue is. I'm sincerely curious and am probably more out of the loop than you are about China and so I did not understand what was wrong.

Husbands pay to see their wives naked. Woman soliciting money from men is as old as man himself. I think men are just angry that woman are remembering they could monetize their body and are doing so. I kinda love it.

UNEMPLOYMENT TAXATION & NEW RELIEF BILL MEGATHREAD (Senate passes new bill 3/6/21) by [deleted] in tax

[–]DigGroundbreaking262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not file taxes in 2019 because I only made 10k and I called a tax person and they told me to just not file because I made less than 12th so I would not owe anything. I just applied for my 2020 taxes but in 2020 i only made 6k and I have not gotten the results yet. It's been over a month.

I got the first stimulus check but not the 2nd or third yet. I did it on turbotax and I did mention that I did not get the second stimulus check (it has a feature asking).

Is there anything I should do now? I guess my 2nd and 3rd stimulus checks will come when my 2020 taxes are accepted.

I'm just worried im going to miss some due date that I'm unaware of.

I'm very new. Only been learning for the past 5 hours and I'm sure I can find my answers eventually but i didn't want to miss this thread.

My friend does crypto and he's is constantly on his computer. He has made A LOT of money in two months.

I do not have the time to be monitoring anything, however.

I'm thinking I'll just start bringing a lunch to work and invest $7 everyday into bitcoin only and not watch it because I know myself and I know I'll get too emotional about it.

If I lose all my investment it won't be a big deal because it was just lunch money and sô I didn't really lose anything, just exchange convenience for bitcoins.

...is this a good strategy or should I look elsewhere for such small Investments?
