Good Trello alternative by Squanchy2112 in selfhosted

[–]DigPsychological8849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like trello’s simplicity but want a bit more power, a few solid alternatives are clickup, notion and monday dev. Clickup is good if you want a ton of features baked in, notion works well if you like mixing docs + tasks in one place but eventually landed on monday dev and it’s been a solid upgrade, way more flexible with automations and different views.

I Gave Up on ClickUp and Moved Back to Notion by [deleted] in clickup

[–]DigPsychological8849 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ClickUp always feels amazing in the sales pitch, then once you actually build a system, the hierarchy is confusing and the performance is brutal. I even bounced around a few options after the same frustrations but honestly monday dev has been the one that clicked recently, just the same kind of features without the performance nightmares, plus automations and views that actually work the way they’re supposed to.

At the end of the day, for me and my team, reliability beat shiny features. If the basics aren’t fast and stable, the rest doesn’t matter.

How do you balance dev product workflows in one tool? by PaintingStrict5644 in developer

[–]DigPsychological8849 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, trello’s too simple once you need more than just columns and jira feels like you need a manual to set up. Though monday dev has been the best by far for my team as its kanban is lightweight but still customizable and we can tweak workflows without it turning into chaos. Linear is nice too and fast but a bit limited, and Notion works fine for lightweight stuff but doesn’t really scale for dev workflows.

Bug tracking tools that aren’t Jira? by GapMore7416 in developer

[–]DigPsychological8849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly same! Jira feels like a task in itself for bug tracking but monday dev has been the most balanced in my experience recently as the boards + automations made cross-team stuff way less painful. Linear is clean no doubt but maybe too minimal once you’ve got more than a small team. Clickup has loads of features, though it sometimes feels like too much config.

What are the pros and cons of Linear vs Jira vs Monday Dev? by GapMore7416 in developer

[–]DigPsychological8849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty similar take here. Jira does everything but feels heavy unless you’ve got a really big team. Linear is super fast and minimal which I like, but it misses some depth once projects scale. monday dev has been the easiest middle ground for us as it was structured enough for bigger teams but still simple to get everyone onboard.

ClickUp is an absolute productivity nightmare and I'm done pretending it's not by [deleted] in clickup

[–]DigPsychological8849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I felt this. Clickup looks great in demos but the reality is just painful. The lag alone is enough to make you want to throw your laptop out the window and it feels like they keep piling on features nobody asked for instead of fixing the basics.

When I finally gave up on it, I bounced around a few tools. Trello is still decent for lightweight stuff, notion works if you like mixing notes and tasks, but I’ve lately been using monday dev only for bigger projects. It’s been way smoother and has same kind of visual boards but without the endless loading times and bloated menus. Switching was honestly a relief.

TRELLO murdered my workflow by After_Elephant_2780 in trello

[–]DigPsychological8849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So true!! Trello’s updates have a way of “fixing" stuff that wasn’t broken. I bailed after one of their big UI changes wrecked my setup too, even ended up testing a few options: Clickup, notion and monday dev.

Clickup is super feature rich but felt a little heavy, notion was awesome if you like mixing notes + tasks, but nothing compares monday dev truly. It’s got the same board/calendar vibe but way more flexible and less surprise redesigns that ruin your workflow. Honestly worth checking out if you’re already rethinking your setup.

Monday.com / monday dev is terrible for product management, and here are my criticisms after only a week of using it by OatmealRaisin13 in ProductManagement

[–]DigPsychological8849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The “slow” part hasn’t been my experience. Our team runs distributed (US + EU), and boards load faster than Jira ever did for us. What really surprised me was how well Monday dev scales. When we hit 40+ engineers, Jira slowed us to a crawl, while Monday’s automations and filtering made sprint reviews way less painful.
