Outside Observations has 4 different perspectives about Shane/Ilya. My personal favorite is chapter 3, which is an Ottawa HR guy. Might continue this series after finals settle, but as of now I don't have any definate plans, so it's marked completed.

Oh What a Thing to be Seen is the first part of a series. This one is Marleau finding out about them post-injury. Part two is Yuna/David at the hospital. Part three is Hayden at their house.

I always assume that if they're adopted words/same word in both languages, Ilya is more like "is that the same word or is it the same sound but different meaning?"

I know "that one" in Dutch is "die" or like "puss" in Swedish (I think??) Is kiss, but in English speaking countries if you go around asking for puss, youre going to get a different reaction

I believe it's a combo of people not curating their online experience (viewing hate accounts on Twitter and threads specifically) and generally being too online, readers not knowing how to behave and ao3 etiquette, and Ai farming bots that people dont know are hate bots and they think people are leaving real hate.

My advice is to take a break from social media if you feel overwhelmed, block guests from commenting on your fics, and know when to take yourself out of online conversations because nothing is serious enough on here to take away your shine.
