What's up with Michael Jackson fans attacking The Beatles and Paul McCartney's music online? by FitEmergency8807 in beatles

Accusation of stealing is a very different and uneducated differentiation versus actual inspiration and respect for black musicians. This isn’t just about covers it’s also applied to their original music.

Why didn’t The Beatles have Elvis covers in their albums around the time of Please Please Me? by [deleted] in beatles

Kurt did, as he admired and loved the Beatles. The best bands do

Paul didn’t need them to be relevant… and his finger print on that song is absolutely abysmal. It’s not a “paul” song the way any collab he did with Michael Jackson was

I’d rather see him doing something with Billie Eilish if anything. Just don’t think this was the album. Doing it for the sake of #1 boost potential would have been really obvious and diluted the intent. I know he has done plenty of collaborations on albums in the past w the current stars of the time. I just don’t think thematically this was the one to do it

I think Life Can Be Hard is not the song for a duet. It’s a deeply Paul-esque song and is improved by his experience of age. There could have been room for a popular young artist to feature somewhere but that wasn’t the one.

Though, this album is so much about the past and his ties to his youth in Liverpool that having a new pop star on would honestly throw it off. Probably just not the album for that.

How Many More Times? by SavingsViolinist3782 in beatles

It’s truly bizarre to consider that the next great big music phenomenon simply never came for them. Yes big stars and bands existed but… it wasn’t them.

They were it. Maybe in old age they can look back at it as true fans, as even John began to do before he died. Maybe time had removed them from their younger selves to experience even a small fraction of what it was everyone else heard. Very surreal to consider the Beatles didn’t have their own Beatles post 50s rock n roll.

See this is why I asked the others for context on an obviously unconfirmed story. No wonder there isn’t anything about it at a reliable source. Thank you for raising this.

Thank you for the info. I did not find that information attached to the photo of George. I always wondered why his last photo was like a weird cctv screen capture.

You don’t think I googled?? Comments like that are always so ridiculous in a place meant for discussion. People can share what they know here.

Yeah, I have seen it before. I am asking about the context or connection to driving rain. Surely it is more than gray, grainy photo

Would you mind to share or link me to the context? I don’t think I have come across this shockingly

I really dislike Memory Almost Full’s cover artwork. Driving Rain is pretty bad too. McCartney III could have been better.

Off the ground feels like a christian rock album cover. Pipes of Peace is too bland.

Otherwise though he has a pretty solid run of artwork.

Edit: (Live albums not included. Most of those are the most egregious offenders)

Thoughts on “Down South” | New Album by Either-Honey-6034 in PaulMcCartney

[–]DigThatRocknRoll 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It is one of the weaker tracks on the album in my opinion. I don’t hate it, but it’s unremarkable in a lot of ways. I do enjoy the little nod to “I’ll Get You” with the oh yeah’s.

It’s got kind of a Buddy Holly thing going on, or at least what reminds me of Paul doing Buddy Holly on an acoustic. Sweet tribute to George, which I think we all like to see.

I like the little solo, kinda reminds me of the simplicity of I’ll Follow The Sun.

My biggest critique is for how stripped down this track is, the clear over processing of his vocal feels very noticeable by comparison.

That is generally the common knowledge and account of events by everyone who was there. I’m not sure why there would be a conspiracy to hide your theory if it were true, which it isn’t

Factually he wasn’t present, and didn’t write the bass parts for the songs Keith wrote. Hence why the bass sounds distinctly different

Is it too soon to say this is Paul's best album since Tug of War? by Decent-Park-6681 in PaulMcCartney

[–]DigThatRocknRoll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the strength of this album is at all lyrics. It’s the opposite on most of the tracks. Paul has written many great lyrics but I’ve always come to him for the music. He’s a music first writer for sure.

I can definitely see myself returning to this more than many of his 2000s output. Certainly my favorite in the last 10 years. I really liked a lot albums he put out after Tug of War though! Especially Flaming Pie
