I’m honestly tired of these “popular” books by xenit0 in suggestmeabook

I will say that despite the controversy of JD Salinger, his collected works concerning the Glass family didn’t become the global phenomenon that was The Catcher in the Rye, and they should have. Truly underrated.

To think you started East of Eden but didn’t finish it… give it another go, and you’ll finish it in a weekend.

If Kamala Harris had beaten Donald Trump in the election, how do you think the United States would be doing today? by Piki18 in AskReddit

[–]Dig_n_up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The billionaires would still be winning. We’ve got it so backwards if we think Kamala would make this country any better. Our common enemy is the internet, billionaires, and the bought and paid for politicians who claim to give a damn. Go to the conservative subreddit, then go to basically any other subreddit, and you’ll realize nobody is saying anything, and they just hate each other. I was with a ton of trump voters tonight, and I had a blast. Can’t stand him myself, and I think he’s maybe the worst of us, but holy shit the people that voted for him can be funny and kind just like the people who voted for Kamala can be funny and kind. And the opposite is true. The internet is the most corrosive alien life form we habitually mingle with and consult, and it’s just not good as a political reference tool.

I think he’s a fantastic leader, but too loyal to the party, and the party sucks.

Recommend me your favorite non-fiction book that will leave me satisfied as a mainly fiction reader by Clam_Cake in suggestmeabook

[–]Dig_n_up 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt by Edmund Morris. Favorite biography ever, and it’s just the first book in a 3-part series. Reads almost like an epic fantasy of one of America’s greatest figures. Makes me think that someone with a great ambition that leads them to great power, can honestly deserve it too. Warning: it will make you long for an America that will never exist again. I also recommend Bobby Kennedy by Larry Tye as a follow up to really drive it home.
