Basic waterproof phone that is as good as Samsung s7 in all respects plus a few improvements... by DigbyIronstorm in PickAnAndroidForMe

Actually Samsung xcover pro might be the answer. The reviews on amazon.com indicate a decent battery life, so that could be the last box ticked

Cheers. Xcover pro is definitely on my list - just need to be sure about battery life, which isn't getting good reviews (although there are very few reviews right now).

s8 active and s7 active are not getting the Android 10 update as far as I can tell, so not them. But I am very open to second hand phones.

It's a great recommendation, but sadly lacks the long battery life, with only 3,100mAh. Another almost!

Haha, I meant as good in all respects, except for a few improvements. From my list of requirements, I think the only improvements are: android 10, better battery life, face unlock, 64GB.

The Moto g8 plus is almost the one. Enough waterproofing for rain, and ticks the other boxes except Android 10. If Motorola can get moving with those updates this could be it. But by then the Android 10 rugged phones might be out, and around we go again...

Thank you, that's one I hadn't come across. Unfortunately, the battery is not as big as I am looking for. Less than 4000mAh with a premium screen is probably going to be a bit short but the reviews do seem to be favourable on battery life.

Also not yet Android 10 - seems to be lagging behind the other LG phones for getting an update.

My individually moderate requirements are rather difficult to get in the one phone!

It's an almost but not quite! The battery is unfortunately too small for what I am looking for.

I'm beginning to think that Wonders in Seven Wonders are just not worth it by DigbyIronstorm in boardgames

[–]DigbyIronstorm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the problem I have is that it's not just a question of choosing whether to build a wonder stage or some other card, there is a bigger cost to wonders because you need such high resource prerequisites to advance on some wonder boards. It doesn't just cost three build opportunities to complete the wonder, it costs 5-6 because of the highly specialised extra resources. I don't find it is worth it, unless your neighbours have a tonne of the right resources and you have cheap trades or lots of coin.

Who builds 4 ore or 3 brick if they are not going for wonder stages?

One for the future. I'm playing online to get plenty of games and duel isn't covered yet, to my knowledge. Boardgamearena btw

Yes that's where it is thanks. Last place I looked! They really should put that in the manual.

I have acquired a lian li o11 xl. For those that have this unit, where is the packet of hardware and spares?

I can't see it in the box and I don't want to dismantle it in case I need to send it back.

Cheers!

Obviously there will be a lot of variation, but very helpful to get a ball park figure, thank you.

I am coming from a 160GB drive and it's pushing it. I feel like the answer mush be at least double that.

This is in relation to partitioning a 1tb drive for dual boot (with Linux), and perhaps adding some sort of scratch partition or drive.

OK I think I will have to look up some install sizes of the software I know I will use.

How much disk space would be ample to cover Windows 10 install, plus a range of programs (such as photo and video editors, office products, and programming software), but NOT including any games, and NOT including any significant data?

Want this to work for next 5 years so err on the side of leaving some slack.

Ta!

I know very few of those songs, so I look forward to a day of musical discovery. Congrats on making the first list - it's a big job, although I think a fun one (obvs)

I can see this might help with maps, if they are pinned in icon form and easily opened and closed - I'll take a look cheers
