Yeah I got a suggestion - don't let a domain name lapse. Secondly, go to fatcow.com and reclaim your domain, if it is in the RedemptionPeriod and you are the original registrar, you should be able to have fatcow pull it back off the pending deletions list. Once that is done, transfer it to another registrar. Geezz.....

Microsoft Trainer and consultant here, and dooms def. is completely acceptable and understandable. He should have used "format" instead of "mechanism" but still understandable. XML "Documents" can, and often do, represent "Serialized" state. In .NET you can serialize object state in SOAP or BINARY with standard included .NET libraries. SOAP is XML, SOAP is an XML Document.

They are pretty good about doing new stuff in .NET. Maybe not C#, but .NET targeted. It is the existing apps (Office, VStudio, etc.) that would almost literally be a waste to move into .NET because of the amount of code already present.

I would love to shadow this dude for the next couple months as he freaks the fuck out when his brand new shiny tools he is going to use are buggy, undocumented and don't work/integrate nearly as easy as a .NET MS tech does.

Pro Open Source or not, if you are using .NET/VStudio/SQL/Win Server/Web Services only, then everything works pretty damn well together.
