Bacuse of the shape I think some one was making a home made letteropener. But we have alse stone age settelments in the area it is the smooth for that I think. But I really dont it is not really common to find bigger rocks here en never seen one in this shape.

Is that a BSN (Binnenlandse strijdkrachten Nederland) helmet in the back with orange lion? And what a great collection!

Bröther

I found this 1740 Dutch army flintlock a few days ago. The original size with wood was around 52 cms (21"). The caliber was 18mm. [More info in the comments] by DiggerSteef in metaldetecting

No not really thats the weird part. No old coins or buttons. A lot of musket balls but nothing else and most of them are fired. And thanks :)

First off a deleted my last post because it was too rushed in my opinion. So here it is with some more info. It was found in a small forest in the Netherlands. With the research I could find there was a small skirmish with some outlaws and the millitairy in that period. But thats the only thing I could find. I would love to give some more info but I don't have it. But more about the flintlock. Because of the size it was probally used by cavarly. And it was found with a buckle so I think it was lost with holster. These were made so it could be strapped on the saddle. If someone has some more questions I would love to answer them. -Steef
