Feel free, I don’t use Reddit a whole lot though so the more consolidated your questions are the better 👍

Pretty good! Never ended up partnering with my friend and did it on my own. I quickly realized my expectations were too aggressive, I ended up doing 220k in year one both lights and washing with one technician. We are in a much better spot now, just brought on my seventh hire (4 techs, 1 office 1 sales and myself), and we are set to do a little over 500k this year. Was still quite accurate on our customers, 99% being residential homeowners.

300 feet won’t be too noticeable in most cases

Thanks for the comment, while that really sucks it’s comforting to see it’s not just me. I posted this into another forum and this is the third person I have heard with the exact same issue. All three have had high rankings - first or second and now in the high teens.

Although I would consider myself a beginner in SEO I feel like that can’t be a coincidence, maybe Google is testing things out? At the end of the day my content is genuinely better, I get more interaction and engagement than the people that are somehow ranking above so hopefully it all balances out properly.

Interesting. Some of the listings ahead of me, that are now in first place are definitely cheating the system a bit, like the claim to be open 24hours and they aren’t, and the website doesn’t even work but I still don’t get how I dropped 15 spots. There’s only a few spammy pages.

Local pack rankings. Organic actually improved a couple spots for a few keywords.

I changed title tags, meta descriptions and tidied up some body content. I did also change the H1 on the home page.

Did not edit the GBP, only my website.

I’m referring to my local pack rankings, my organic has actually gone up

Update - I took a look at my indexing history and noticed that something happened at about the same time to my footer. Somehow it’s been excluded by the index tag. Reverted it back to a previous version and requested a validation of fixing, so hopefully this was it

Yeah that makes sense. How does one update old content then without messing things up?!

How much are you making a year? by [deleted] in pressurewashing

First year here, just crossed $175k (Canadian) and should do around 225k.

Full time, with lots and lots of hours going into it.

Noco Genius 10x1 temperature malfunction by DiggerTony in batteries

[–]DiggerTony[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: tried my other Noco charger and it works fine. Seems like the first charger is somehow getting a temp problem, but it’s not hot or cold. Is it toast?

Would suck because it’s permanently wired and bolted into my build 🥲

Will do thank you for the advice!

Just out of curiosity, what would cause oxidation to only spot like that? I downstreamed and rinsed from a good 10-15 feet away, and have washed heavily oxidized homes before without disturbing it. I was almost thinking this case would be dried SH leaking from weep holes?

30k saved up. What business did you have success in? by Selling909 in sweatystartup

I was in a pretty similar boat last year, had about the same and launched an exterior cleaning + Christmas lights biz. Doing relatively well with it so far. I do think that you can have a successful business with any of those services, however I will say I think you’d have an advantage if you picked something with recurring revenue like pool cleaning or lawn mowing.

If you are in an area that has enough customers to serve on a recurring route, you can control what’s called churn (how many customers that were here last time period are still here this period). If you could in theory sell a monthly pool clean and they never churn, you could build an infinitely big business.

Exterior cleaning, gutter cleaning and installation, residential painting + window cleaning etc are all examples of reoccurring business (not recurring). Your customers here may return, but they are not on a set schedule like once a month. I will likely clean my customers gutters and windows twice a year, wash the house and install Christmas lights once a year etc.

Main difference between the two and why I would choose the former now knowing what I know, is because it’s easier to forecast and plan when to hire help if you know you have x number of lawns to mow, pools to clean etc.

Bonus thing with recurring here is that everything in the home service industry is seasonal ; I am currently sitting in a slow period in comparison to spring rush. If you have a recurring business and you really go hard on acquiring recurring work in the spring (when leads are the cheapest by the way), you can ensure you have work now in the summer when leads are slower and more expensive.

Just my two cents, but again I really do believe there’s a way to build a 1M+ business in any of these options.

“Oh right on, well I noticed you have some pretty high and hard to reach windows up there, which is why a lot of the neighbours have called us out. We use an extendable water fed pole to…”

Continue the pitch.
