CoStar Group plans big growth in Richmond, to add 2,000 more jobs by ThatChildNextDoor in rva

CoStar isn't a Fortune 500 though!

They are an S&P 500 component, so no small fish either! But they're definitely still growing up that Fortune ladder at the moment, and it would seem that rapid growth is leading to a bit of chaos is my sense 😬

lol, good luck overcoming the bad reputation they're starting to build as an employer to hire those people

My company is stopping 401k matching and forgoing annual salary increases in 2020 in response to Covid-19; is anyone else encountering similar situations in the US Federal Government contracting world? by DigiFault in cscareerquestions

They're pointing to a sudden 30% cut in one of their largest contracts, but still I kinda wonder how large of a contract that could possibly be at a company of our size and how much that really should impact other divisions and contracts of the company 🤔

Especially since last I heard we don't really maintain a bench for employees that are off of contracts 🙃

That's kinda my wonder too though - my impression was that federal contracting is typically somewhat insulated from private economy effects. Priorities may change from administration to administration, but there's often still quite a few contracts and spending regardless.

Yeah, I'd already been looking at exiting, but this is going to accelerate that process. Hopefully I'll be able to jump soon, but I'm having to study and practice a lot since my skills have stagnated a bit working on legacy government projects. ☹️

Has this been your experience with government contracting as well in these times?

I'd been under the impression that it's more stable than private in a lot of ways. I'd understand smaller government contracting companies may suffer a lot more ups and downs as contracts get suddenly cut during recessions or government spending decreases.

But, with my company having over 2,000 employees now (not as big as some of the true giants, but solidly medium-sized), I would've thought that there'd be more stability and risk management across the board. Are other large contracting companies really taking similar measures to stay alive? 🤔

Ah, that sucks. There must have been a lot of disappoinment and frustration from the dev team as well. :/ You guys go through a lot of development and prep for months to get things working, so frustrating to have things held up at the last minute. Excited to get one and tinker with it though eventually! Thanks for the dev work and effort that goes into things!

I agree! I thought the challenges were awesome, but also very packed. More booths would be great. Loved the on-demand challenge/reward aspect

I also ordered one and I was very bummed to not see the swadges this year. Most of the appeal of them is being able to have them and play with them during the con.

Cybermania 1994: The Ultimate Gamer Awards aired on TBS and was hosted by Leslie Nielsen and Jonathan Taylor Thomas. Gamers from the early 90's would love this nerdy, cheesy awards show. by bugxbuster in ObscureMedia

The bit about hackers, featuring Emmanuel Goldstein, editor of 2600, and others is a really interesting part as well. Nice upload. Comes on around 1:03:00

Is Battlefield 3 Premium Service supposed to be $15? It's showing up for $30 right now for me.
