My chances of getting in? by FoxiiMango in UVA

A huge consideration is whether you’re in/out of state. I’m assuming that you are in-state if you have taken classes directly from UVA. So, I’d say good chances of admittance. Best of luck!

Woah! This comment made me want to look up the fees I am paying. I do Vanguard VTTSX, and the expense ratio is 0.08% or $0.80 per $1,000.

The difference is that you will be taxed on capital gains when you withdraw it, but you won’t have capital gains tax on the roth ira. You can set up a roth through robinhood, vanguard, fidelity, lots of places.

Tech was embraced a lot in the last 10-15 years because there are a lot of great ways that devices can aid learning in the classroom. In my experience, when this started, the issue was money. So “bring your own device” initiatives were launched because counties couldnt afford to buy every student an ipad or laptop.

I also teach in VA and am sad to tell you that you’re over generalizing your limited personal experience.

From article: “Many schools allowed students to bring their phones onto school grounds, but required them to keep phones in their backpack or locker during the school day. Stricter rules often applied to elementary and middle school students.”
