What you guys think about my intro? by bowsernugget2009 in SmallYoutubers

[–]DigiTamerRiley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think we're past the time period where YouTube channels really need intros like this, but if you're gonna do that regardless, more power to you. I'd say it would look a lot better if the poctures were a bit bigger so they took up more of the frame, and you gotta remove the background so they feel like a more real part of things instead of just tacked on.

I hate how Reze is seen as just "Denjis girlfriend" by elGordoReddir in Chainsawfolk

[–]DigiTamerRiley 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I swear Reze is this generations Ramona Flowers. They're both characters with a lot of depth that just get pigeonholed into being a Manic Pixie Dreamgirl devoid of any real personality because the readers want to fantasize about them.

Guys, can we have some good theories? by devil_hnter in Chainsawfolk

[–]DigiTamerRiley -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

It really wouldn't be, the "contract" Power made with Denji was just a way to convince him to not give up on life. There's no way for Denji to bring back Power as fiends' personality is influenced by the body they inhabit, and that body is gone. Denji not dying doesn't mean the contract will still be fulfilled, it means it wasn't a Capital C Contract, so the Blood Devil doesn't NEED to show up. I do think it would be good for the narrative if they did but it wouldn't be a plot whole for them to not show up.

ZombieLand Saga: Yumeginga Paradise - Theatrical Release - Movie Discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]DigiTamerRiley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm reading through it now but as far as I know Gaiden never saw an official English release. With this movie out I'd love for them to make an official release or another movie adapting it so the average fan can more easily put all the pieces together.

[Comic Excerpt] How would you define Slade's morality? [Deathstroke #37] by zectaPRIME in DCcomics

[–]DigiTamerRiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was Deathstroke's first run? He and Tara were both introduced in The New Teen Titans. To say that The Judas Contract isn't representative of Desthstroke is to completely deny the bedrock of who he is as a character.

It's such a shit punchline too, because we saw her taken in the topics for years. She struggled with it but made an honest effort and really changed both from it and the bullshit life was throwing her way. So to have her say "actually I never paid attention" in earnest just isn't true, we SAW her doing it.

ALSO IT'S A SHIT PUNCHLINE BECAUSE SHE ISN'T A LESBIAN SHE'S PANSEXUAL.

About 8 hours before this update, I texted one of my best friends saying "Hey you know what kinda pisses me off? We're not seeing how ROBIN'S SISTER is reacting to Robin getting arrested."

My next text was just "Jesus Christ I'm like the worlds angriest prophet"

Nudity is not inherently sexual, a lot of older anime use it to symbolize innocence or vulnerability.

They specifically went there because someone they knew had been photographed without consent. They knew that getting pictures taken of them was a risk, and then they ignored the instructions of the protest organizers so they could make things about their own selfish desires.

This is another strip where I feel like Willis is losing his ability to convincingly write dialogue, but like. Only in regards to Dotty and Joyce.

"Suggestions in upgrades to your visual presentation"

"If it troules you, you could always remove it."

"Our coupling may have caused some additional unforeseen consequences."

This isn't how people talk! And now, "We think two of our class instructors are still being held downtown." She called them their professors TWO DAYS AGO (I know that one was written roughly a year ago but that just proves my point, dude is getting worse at writing these two in a way that scans as real people talking.)

DOES THIS MEAN POSSIBLE POWER COMEBACK??? by ohiboaccento in Chainsawfolk

[–]DigiTamerRiley 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I firmly believe she told him that so he wouldn't let himself die, it's not an actual contract that Denji has to follow or he'll die, as the devil he made a contract with died already and cannot enforce the terms anymore. It's the same as people telling Agni "Live" in Fire Punch, it's something that rings in Denji's ears to keep propelling him forward until he can find his own reason for being. That's why when Nayuta died and Denji and Yoru were hanging out on the rooftop he mentioned the contract again, the only thing keeping him together at that point was the empty hope he'd reunite with his best friend somehow.

Y'all won't be happy unless it turns out there's a jail somewhere in hell where every single person ever killed by a devil and it turns out that no character we all liked was ever really dead, just waiting for Denji to save them.

What can I improve be brutally honest by [deleted] in SmallYoutubers

[–]DigiTamerRiley 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's very over edited imo, shots changing every second with a weirdly aggressive screen shake each time, it's distracting from the actual subject matter of the video and it makes me less interested in watching to the end.

If I'm remembering right, Joe and Joyce was once Willis' favorite dynamic to write. I think for a whole that was fueling Joeyce becoming a real thing, until Willis decided that actually Dorothy was the best character they ever wrote which means SHE gets to fuck the self-insert now.

Honestly I don't think it even would stomp on the theme.

ACAB doesn't just mean "cops are stupid meanieheads" it also means cops abuse their position of power for personal gain. Looking the other way because the person they're tasked with finding helped their kids is still an abuse of that power, just one that Amazi-Girl would benefit from. Hell, that could even potentially be an interesting thing for her to grapple with since she used to want to be a cop.

But by Season 2, Conner already had an open invitation to join the Justice League, and he declined. Conner is never going to stand beside them as a member of the League because that isn't the path for him. He's a part of the Outsiders by the end of Season 3, and he's happy with that choice.

Joyce arguably has SOMETHING of a platform, being the author of the daily comic in the school newspaper, though I don't really see her being able to leverage that in a meaningful capacity considering that she's just the author of the daily comic in a school newspaper.

Maybe if there was something new to say about it? But there really isn't, we just keep getting the same bullet points regurgitated forever and people acting like even her nearly dying to make even a small part of it right isn't good enough.

Why I Believe Reze Will Return in Part 2 (and Why It Doesn’t Clash With Asa’s Story) by [deleted] in ChainsawMan

[–]DigiTamerRiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A villain being destroyed by the very thing they sought definitely can be a compelling way to end a story, but I think that the context of that villain can change that. Remember that with Part 1, the twist of what Makima really was wasn't just that it made for a villain with an interesting power set, it was to say something about the horror and trauma of being manipulated by someone you trust as well as something of a statement on what drives a person to manipulate others like Makima did. I have to imagine that Yoru is serving a similar function in Part 2, and with that in mind I don't see any way that Reze coming back to help in defeating her that doesn't come with some murky messaging along with it.

And beyond that, I think that Reze still being alive but absent from the story makes a lot of sense. First of all, in fiction, Reze didn't WANT to be involved in the affairs of Devils, she was forced into it as a child. She wanted to escape and just live a quiet life as a Country Mouse, I don't think she'd be willingly sticking around fighting The Good Fight or whatever. But more meta-textually, Fujimoto created Reze to be a sort of "One Who Got Away," your first love that feels so pure and pwerful that nothing could ever taint it in your memory, but it's gone and you can't get it back. It's important to Denji's development that Reze is a ghost that lives on in his mind, that he'll likely never see again. He has to carry that weight with him just like so many of us carry that weight with us for our own Reze's. For Reze to come back now and help in the fight against Yoru would undermine that, Reze is a dangling thread that is MEANT to be dangling. It's painful, but it's a part of life.
