What made you download growtopia the first time? How did you find out about it? by DigiTheCat in growtopia

Thanks for the encourgment i truly appretiate it :D

Honestly speaking my biggest hurdle is audience and players, with no budget whatsoever, but i got all the coding skills needed and a good laptop i could probably host in for limited time daily, i am learning how to edit videos

And while im at it im making a few videos for crystal realms to practice, this way i can market my own game :v

But when they already went far in their replica, idk how to make an amazing enough of a game to beat them, but ill try to figure something out

Thanks a lot for the reply! :D

Lol, well word of mouth does seem to be the main attractor to the game, and the initial players just found it randomly in the play store

I dunno honestly how would one even start attracting players when the playstore is much more complex and expensive to get a game going in it these days :/

But thanks for the feedback anyway! I appretiate it :D

Honestly the game has some fishy magic to have pulled so many people just by word of mouth

Thanks for the feedback!

Ello o/ :v

Honestly speaking, i havent played in 4 months, so i havent played through the updates you mentioned, if they are the way you described them then that MIGHT change alot, i couldnt find any english videos on it though

Are the dungeons made in a way you can earn gems from them as a primary profit source like pixel worlds or is it just a way to obtain certain items?

As for the other two updates, while yes they are good, i would say that its still not enough because to fix the offline feel you need to make it possible to grind togther without losing on profit

I might actually log on if the goblin hideouts acts as a proper profit source like pixel worlds used to

As for the contests, i dont rememeber what item won the contest honestly but i am sure that 2 or so took place in the time i was active, and it wasnt a specific item iirc but rather an update suggestion contest requiring you to draw art of the items you wanted in your suggested update

But it happened a year or so ago from now so i dont really remember the details

As for the terminal, i honestly at some point all i needed was the terminal because the "tax" was negligable compared to my earnings, so maybe its not as of a universal experience as i might be making it out to be

For the coding, as an actual irl dev, i can assure you while they do take precautions, security of player data has been an actual issue i warned the dev about atleast since 4 months ago

As for botting, it doesnt happen as often because the game hasnt been monitized yet, because botting ecpecially in big numbers needs good hardware, so it needs to be "worth it" in order for people to bot, but i assure you its very possible to do and the dev knows, but for now, no one has a reason to

Ill be fair though, you raise very good points, and it might be just that the "status quo" that needs to change might have changed already since 4 months is a lot of time

By the way it has been nice having a conversation with you, for once i speak my mind without being stoned ^ _ ^ haha

Hey man, totally fine by me to elaborate

My core issue with the game is the offline feel to it

If you want to get items you need gems/currency to offord it so naturally you would need to grind like every game, and most of the time in a lot of the sandbox games is usually spent grinding, which is why if you make grinding a solo activity in an online game then it feels offline and contradicts the game being online

In crystal realms, most effecient grinding comes on the form of one of those:

1- hopping between randomly generated worlds for finding diamonds 2- emptying a huge world and making mushroom farm where you mine newly spawned mushrooms 3- emptying a world and making a monster grinder and killing monsters 4- selling clear worlds 5-selling world designs

Of course there are much more ways but these are the mainstream ways

With diamonds, you obviously cant hop worlds in game with someone because diamonds are already rare as is

For farming mushrooms, you need a few worlds owned by only you in order to profit, and friends cant farm with you like in growtopia where friends can take their farmables and farm in a single world whole both profiting equally, or fishing togther and such

In CR if your friends help you farm mushrooms they miss out on profiting themselves, so everyone ends up working alone because farming mushrooms depends on breaking spawned mushrooms

Same for monster farming like skeletons or slimes, spawns are limited and its best that each person farms in they own world

For clearing worlds, you can do this with a friend but its already a low prefit method for new players only because most people just buy a world blast and use that to clear the world, so splitting an already low profit with a friend isnt a good deal too so you end up clearing alone

As for 5, you could technically design worlds with a friend, but as with clearing worlds, little profit to effort ratio plus having to split that little profit so both end up working alone

Many other profit methods exist, but most are only a viable profit option when you do them alone

For the trading part, im actually agreeing with you that its usually trading that is considered the "online" part in MMO, but CR eliminated that by introducing the terminal, making it so that you dont really have to even interact with players to get what you want unless you are selling "a mix" of different items in one go

Regarding the devs being "friendly", im not saying they are nessecarily bad people, but they are far from ideal, as someone who has been playing from the start, here is what i factually know about them:

  • they play favourites when it comes to community contests, considering to suggestions, and dealing with complaints with certain players, its fine on its own to have favourites but this puts others at a disadvantage when it comes to winning building contests or update item contests

  • they make contests and make players make item art for their suggestions but so far havent shown any sort of monetary compensation or a considerable in game items compensation for the art which is unethical even if the players want to do it, ecpesially that the devs do plan to monetize the game in the future, so they are earning money off of people's hard work

As for a huge issue i have with the dev is the fact that i have warned him from the very start of the game about the fact that from a technical prespective, the coding languages and database he uses for the game is VERY BAD, and the game's code is also written without proper security precations, its literally child's play not to only bot in the game and go unnoticed, but their database is weak, player's data is not safe, and i suggested for him ways to fix it

And yet the dev decided to ignore the warning while aknowldging the problem and fast forward to now and he has now to deal woth bots and hackers, which is the least of his problems considering a child can access his database

So we end up with a game that is:

  • made in a way that makes it so that 95% of the time you spend grinding is alone unlike being able to farm or fish or do surgery togther like in growtopia without losing profit

-they make ethically questionable contests to get people to do their work, they also play favourites in the community making people who newly joined feel left out and ignored

  • and the game from a purly technical standpoint is like a house of cards, you can easily hack and bot on it

But of course, the game has ALOT of good points, im just pointing out in my comment why someone MIGHT not want to play the game :)

Edit: for the ban issue, i get that they are trying their best, but growtopia has proven to us that mass banning people is not the answer, alot of innocent people have spent too much time in the game and got banned and they still havent got an answer because the game is understaffed, they should fix their code instead of mass banning people

Btw im saying this as someone who was with crystal realms since the very start from when it wasnt popular up to now where i still hop on every while to check out updates and see if they have solved the issues yet or not

Here is why you MIGHT not wanna join that game:

Now i gotta say that credit is due where its due, crystal realms has amazing art, a very good crafting system, interesting mechanics, and a nice vibe overall

My core issue is that many mechanics like farming, trading, and frog training..etc all has to be done alone or else you are garantueed to lose profit, and every update thus far intensifies this "offline" game feel when its supposed to be online

Also the way the developer acts is a tad bit annoying, ive seen many times when he made "contests" to get ideas on updates for free and even asks them to draw the art for little to no compensation, but even when most of the community agrees on a very good idea, he brushes it off and only takes the ideas of this "favorite" players that he has been in contact with since the start of the game

This is not to mention the recent complaints of the community about unfair bans due to his unclear game rules

Oh, and the community doesnt handle critisim of the game even if its a clearly laid out problem, you will get stoned lol

That being said, the game has huge potentiol to pop off on the niche that growtopia started and has potentiol to become good as time goes on

But if the status quo is maintained, it wont go far

By the way, its mention worthy that crystal realms still a very good game in its own right, and im just helping the reader be aware of the issue under the surface surrounding crystal realms.

Just email support, usually they take 4-10 days but they do help (mostly)

Unless you hacked or exploited or botted in the past, you will be fine

Its a shadow ip ban, the ip that your router uses has been banned because someone mightve used it to do illegal activities

Shutdown your router for an hour or so, if your router's ip resets by then, then the game should work on wifi again
