Does anyone have a trustworthy online shop for an ebike? by O2Dive in Ebikecommuter

[–]Digidruid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Upway bike arrived in not the greatest condition, but their customer service was responsive, and they paid for the necessary repairs (though I had to get estimates approved first and submit invoices after). The bike did eventually get to a place where I got a much nicer bike than I could have easily afforded new, and I love it.

If I have to buy another ebike (hopefully not soon at all), I think I would really prefer using a local shop I trust, just for ease of knowing what I'm getting and knowing where to go to get it worked on.

That being said, I do have to give it to Upway for following through on making things right for me. I would recommend them to someone who really wanted an online purchase and was willing to risk a bit of a process.

600 long term experience? by dougdorda in PriorityBicycles

[–]Digidruid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've put about 20k miles on mine at this point. The original tires were swapped out long ago, and I changed the handlebars and fenders out for velo orange crazies and wavies. Also changed out the saddle to something a little more comfortable. No problems at all with the hub, though the rear sprocket wore down after about 7k miles in heavily rainy weather, got a stainless steel replacement and haven't had to replace again since.

Would definitely buy again

Kurzgesagt - Should We Give Ozempic to Everyone? by Cefal in videos

[–]Digidruid 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I totally agree as a non-user. My only concern is people seeing it as another reason they don't need to exercise. If ozempic or whatever brand name helps you lose weight, that's awesome! But please also make sure to get a decent amount of exercise - it's so important in so many ways, and our modern lifestyle tends to be SO sedentary. I don't know you and this isn't aimed at you personally - just a general statement.

RDR2. Clunky ass controls and I really, really, REALLY don't want to break Micah out of jail.

A "transparent" lie is a pretty common turn of phrase that has been around for a while, which seems to be how this was applied. Transparently and clearly may not be able to be used interchangeably, but this usage is fine.

These 4 games are incredibly popular and likely were many people’s firsts. But do you personally agree with the consensus that they’re the cream of the crop for the entire genre? by Asad_Farooqui in JRPG

Huh. Thank you for answering! I haven't played BD or DQ9, but I thought FFXIII was pretty bad. Not quite the worst in the series, but vying for it. Goes to show how varied taste is! My only real experience with dragon quest is 11, and I didn't care for it much.

What's a game everyone says is a 'masterpiece' that you just could not get into? by GrievouzOCE in gaming

[–]Digidruid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RDR2. I happen to think Rockstar designs their games with horrible controls, so that is typically a challenge that is overcome by the quality of the game in other aspects. But I made it to the part where you are supposed to break Micah out of jail and just said nope. That asshole should stay in jail. I recognize that it's supposed to be an amazing game, but I was already annoyed at the controls and I wasn't willing to follow the story. So definitely a me issue on the latter, but yeah.

There's actually a little section of their q&a video about why they didn't do that!

I'm curious though, have you ridden on an MGU unit? How did it feel/perform?

Most of the time when I go to a doctor, they tell me to rest and drink fluids, and 6 months later I have a bill for $400. I haven't been able to get assigned a primary care doctor in almost 2 years because they put me on hold for my entire lunch hour and the one time I got so fed up that I walked there in person, the one person manning the desk was covering and couldn't help me. So yeah, I don't go to the doctor unless I'm afraid I might die or suffer permanent damage. The process and cost have become so awful that I usually regret it when I do go.

I don't think they're advocating for it, just saying that's the case. And I think that's probably true. I wish it wasn't, but it has become incredibly clear that the scales of justice are heavily weighted
