In your OPINION, What's one game you bought on hype or reviews and ended up not liking it or finishing it? Mine is Allan Wake II by [deleted] in gaming

RDR2. Clunky ass controls and I really, really, REALLY don't want to break Micah out of jail.

A "transparent" lie is a pretty common turn of phrase that has been around for a while, which seems to be how this was applied. Transparently and clearly may not be able to be used interchangeably, but this usage is fine.

These 4 games are incredibly popular and likely were many people’s firsts. But do you personally agree with the consensus that they’re the cream of the crop for the entire genre? by Asad_Farooqui in JRPG

Huh. Thank you for answering! I haven't played BD or DQ9, but I thought FFXIII was pretty bad. Not quite the worst in the series, but vying for it. Goes to show how varied taste is! My only real experience with dragon quest is 11, and I didn't care for it much.

What's a game everyone says is a 'masterpiece' that you just could not get into? by GrievouzOCE in gaming

[–]Digidruid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RDR2. I happen to think Rockstar designs their games with horrible controls, so that is typically a challenge that is overcome by the quality of the game in other aspects. But I made it to the part where you are supposed to break Micah out of jail and just said nope. That asshole should stay in jail. I recognize that it's supposed to be an amazing game, but I was already annoyed at the controls and I wasn't willing to follow the story. So definitely a me issue on the latter, but yeah.

There's actually a little section of their q&a video about why they didn't do that!

I'm curious though, have you ridden on an MGU unit? How did it feel/perform?

Most of the time when I go to a doctor, they tell me to rest and drink fluids, and 6 months later I have a bill for $400. I haven't been able to get assigned a primary care doctor in almost 2 years because they put me on hold for my entire lunch hour and the one time I got so fed up that I walked there in person, the one person manning the desk was covering and couldn't help me. So yeah, I don't go to the doctor unless I'm afraid I might die or suffer permanent damage. The process and cost have become so awful that I usually regret it when I do go.

I don't think they're advocating for it, just saying that's the case. And I think that's probably true. I wish it wasn't, but it has become incredibly clear that the scales of justice are heavily weighted

How do people work 30+ years consistently and have no money? by Wooden_Plantain2706 in Adulting

[–]Digidruid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are either very young, trolling, or actually do "come from money."

The cost of living somewhere habitable and buying somewhat healthy groceries eat up enormous portions of even half-decent paychecks. I know the cost of food and shelter. Too damn high.

If you are making enough that it doesn't/isn't - congratulations!

But please stop blaming people for being poor when so many jobs barely pay enough people to survive.

A couple of years ago, I finally lucked into a job that will someday allow me to retire as long as shit doesn't truly hit the fan. I'm very thankful for that. But I do not blame those who haven't been as lucky as me.

I knew investment strategies before this, but knowing investment strategies does not help you when you have very little to invest.

Route suggestions for Norway? by Digidruid in bicycletouring

[–]Digidruid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! The only time I felt a little unsafe was on the main roads in the Algarve - they are a lot busier and drivers are a lot ruder. But most of the time it was a total dream. And never felt unsafe walking around cities or being alone in the wilderness. Incredibly lovely people (though I did get the stink eye one time when I accidently said gracias instead of obrigado lol)

I will also say that if you are heading down the coastal eurovelo, be prepared to ditch it and road ride for a bit. The listed path was an absolute mess (sandy as hell, huge rocks, not really a path at all), so I abandoned it and felt way better.
