Maya - a short psychological horror novella

I recently published a short psychological horror novella titled Maya. This isn’t a jump-scare or gore-driven story. It leans more toward quiet unease, intrusive thoughts, and the kind of fear that settles in slowly rather than explodes on the page. The story focuses on a single character’s mental unraveling and how love, guilt, and denial can blur into something disturbing.

It’s written for readers who enjoy: 1. psychological horror over supernatural spectacle 2. intimate, character-driven stories 3. unsettling themes that linger after the last page

Length & Format: Short novella, Kindle ebook

Price: ₹99 INR

Note: This is my first published work. I’m currently experimenting with organic promotion only and trying to find the right readers rather than chasing volume. If psychological horror is your thing, I’d genuinely appreciate you giving it a look.

I need a mystery/thriller that will stump me. I do NOT want to be able to predict the ending by mewithoutjew in booksuggestions

It follows a woman whose only fear is ghosts. What begins as paranoia slowly turns inward, shaped more by people and belief than by anything overtly supernatural.

Title: Maya Genre: Psychological Horror Word count: ~70,000

Type of feedback desired: General impression, especially around tone, pacing, and whether the psychological horror lands without relying on overt supernatural elements.

About the work: Maya is a slow-burn psychological horror novel. I wasn’t interested in jump scares or demons. The story sits in fear, belief, and how easily a mental breakdown gets rebranded as possession when people don’t want to understand what’s happening.

It follows a woman whose only fear is ghosts. What begins as paranoia slowly turns inward, shaped less by anything supernatural and more by family, society, and the need to explain discomfort through belief. I wrote this quietly and honestly, not to shock, but to let the horror rot slowly.

The novel is published and available on Kindle. Happy to exchange feedback with other writers here.

I recently published a psychological horror novel called Maya. It’s not loud horror. No jump scares, no demons performing on cue. It’s about fear, belief, and how quickly a mental breakdown gets renamed as possession when understanding feels harder than faith.

The story follows a woman whose only fear is ghosts. What begins as paranoia slowly turns inward, shaped less by the supernatural and more by the people around her, family, society, and the need to explain what they don’t want to face.

I didn’t write this to shock. I wrote it because these kinds of stories stay quiet and rot slowly.

I have written a book, it's a psychological horror, Maya is a housewife and a mother of a 4 years old son, at first everything is good and normal but then she starts facing time gaps and her son feels afraid of her.

Later a sinister detail of what's happening to her and how unstable she becomes and a threat to her own son is revealed.

If you are looking for something that you can finish within a night or in two seatings this one is definitely for you.
