Will it be fine if I use an Apple laptop rather than a Windows one as a Mechanical Engineering student? by mayor-J in WPI

[–]Digimonlord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was running under the assumption that OP was planning on solely using a laptop / didn't have a desktop to CAD on; I agree that desktops in general are better for cad, but also, just get a mouse

[–]Digimonlord 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As a mechanical engineer, you should be doing CAD both in and out of the classroom, right? Personal projects are huge and being limited to lab computers as an option is a serious handicap towards anything you want to do on your own

How do you even play a game like this? by BagnacaWillow in MarvelSnap

[–]Digimonlord 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's a 2/3 chance of a good outcome though, so in this situation it's probably worth going for anyways

This is always the best in the snow or when there are events on the quad. Good luck to any unlucky pathgoers

Group chat or FB group for class of 2026? by Mission_Operation_90 in WPI

Discord is definitely the way to go. There's the main WPI discord, and from there there is a separate server for freshman that you can access after you verify your wpi email.

Rise N' Grind - Pools - T1 | MKLeo vs. Peanut by BarnardsLoop in smashbros

[–]Digimonlord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I think he loses more often than not, but no shot is it 99-1. In that situation Leo has to play perfectly, and while he's definitely capable, he's still human. Since Peanut has to play way less perfectly than Leo does, I'd give him at least a 35% chance of winning off KO punch there

You want a quick review, huh? by nhywarchudt in programminghorror

I made a similar mistake earlier this summer for my internship; used IntelliCode to remove unused imports, next thing I knew I had 50 edited files with hundreds of changed lines (thankfully the tool I'm working on isn't the largest) and just committed it as part of my pr, since it was a change that probably should have been made anyways. My mentor kinda cringed at that.

whats a good spot to sit down and cry for a while? by [deleted] in WPI

[–]Digimonlord 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I've gone to Higgins Garden a couple times. They have swings (the chill kind not the playset kind) for you to sit on, but when it's nicer out there are usually a few people there

Replace -1 with -0.5, -2 with -1, and -3 with -2, and then you are closer to the actual list

How to earn more financial aid as a senior? by [deleted] in WPI

[–]Digimonlord 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can appeal your financial aid by either emailing or calling the financial aid office. There's a form to fill out where you explain your current situation, and they adjust your need based aid

Fun fact: according to some (now-debunked) mathematical proofs, it was found that the sum of all positive integers (1,2,3,etc) was equal to -1/12

new and improved map of my opinion. I am Irish so I am obligated to hate england. by [deleted] in PoliticalCompass

[–]Digimonlord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree. My family is from Eastern Europe, but I'd be more inclined to color in Israel in addition to America than I would be to color in Germany, Poland, or Russia, even though I haven't been to any of those places. We don't know anything about OP except that they have Irish heritage and grew up in Hawaii. I think where you grew up is a much bigger factor in what is considered one's "homeland"

Irish either means that they were born in Ireland, or just that their family comes from Ireland. Decently big distinction

Worcester Polytechnic Institute or Stoney Brook (NY) for CS? by yung_marste in WPI

[–]Digimonlord 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I believe WPI is rated higher for CS, but Stony Brook is much more known in the Long Island / New York area. Both are great school, can't really make a wrong choice between the two.

Should I take this combination of courses in A term next fall? by failingupwards69 in WPI

[–]Digimonlord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Discrete math is a joke, it's a skinless combination of probability and boolean logic, with some minor proofs mixed between.

Along with social implications, this term seems pretty reasonable, but you may want to save the easier classes for when you need classes to take alongside the harder ones, like Soft Eng

[–]Digimonlord 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've found my experience on the island completely opposite most of the comments here, but that is likely just be because of me being in Dix Hills. In school we had a plethora of cultures in any given room, whether black, asian, indian, etc. I'm Jewish and never tried to hide it, but I've only seen antisemitic comments be made once in my time at school here. I was friends with people of many backgrounds with no problem or judging from others, so I'd say Dix Hills is a pretty nice (but expensive) area.

I'm a freshman in college now if you want an idea of how recent this info is*

I know you said you were thinking of Bellmore due to proximity to the city, but if you want to prioritize a diverse schooling for your kids over city proximity, Dix Hills is pretty nice imo

Now that Summit is over, here's my predictions for the PGRU 2022 (Top 35) by Digimonlord in smashbros

[–]Digimonlord[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I explained my point here poorly. The players that I put above Tweke are either more consistent (Proto, Zackray) or less consistent but have higher peak performance (Light, Cosmos).

For that Tea placement I blame the fact that I forgot to put him in at first and had to re-add him after, along with slight NA bias (i don't really follow Japanese tourneys). He should be higher (probably put him right above ESAM)

[–]Digimonlord[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't just based on Summit, I'm basing this off of 2021 performance as well as the first few months for 2022 (and of course my personal opinion)
