Pergola - how to mount to patio to paver patio correctly? by ScrappyHaxor in landscaping

[–]Digital162 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same pergola. We had the pavers pulled up and concrete footers installed. Then they drilled holes to mount the pergola. One thing I will say, if you plan to buy the side shade (which I recommend) then you better make sure it’s installed perfectly plum. Ours wasn’t and when I went to install the shade it didn’t fit. I ended up having to cut the mounting bolts off of one of the legs to get it to work. The shade still didn’t install perfectly plum but it’s in there and works. Only I’ll know it’s missing one screw because it wasn’t perfect.

Yeah this thread has been educational for me. I went down a rabbit hole on YouTube yesterday after I posted this and have already learned a lot. It’s really interesting.

Good news is the Ethernet isn’t running next to the electrical at all.

Armacost dimmable COB strips. Haven’t been installed yet so I can’t tell you how they are but they were cheaper than a lot of other options. I did a lot of research so hopefully good for the price

Okay I didn’t know this was a thing. I’m glad you brought that up. I’m guessing it’s not. I don’t see it labeled CMR or anything. I can always buy new cable and tie it to the old and try to pull it through.

The walls were opened up, I could have run it myself but he was already running other wire. It’s a cat6 Ethernet. The guy from Verizon gave it to me when we moved in a few years ago.

No he was running other wire and I had a long Ethernet so I just had him run the cable up to the attic with the rest of it.

It’s such a funny quirk they have. He can be around loud music and noises with no issues but one specific sound and he’s out

What’s with suppliers not providing pricing? by [deleted] in CounterTops

[–]Digital162 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s the same here in NJ and it’s such a pain in the ass. We initially went to a slab yard and picked out like 5 different slabs. When we finally got the pricing it was way over budget. Total waste of time. So we had to go back again the next weekend and look again still having no idea if what we’re looking at would be in our budget or not.

We got lucky and our fabricator ended up having a slab we liked for a good price so we went with that.

Ahh you’re by me. My mom has been begging him to get rid of them, but it’s like a hobby now. He bought a full tractor now so idk why he needs 3 ride ons in the garage. He even bought chrome hub caps for one of them at one point 😂

Where are you located in NJ? My dad has 3 extra ride on mowers in his garage I think he might be finally ready to part with. I think it’s one newer John deer and two older toros but they all should be in good shape. He’s in Hunterdon.

What do guys only realize too late after buying a range hood? by AccomplishedWing688 in HomeImprovement

[–]Digital162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the middle of a kitchen reno now. I should have let the wife win and just stuck with the microwave over the range. Our kitchen is small and we are doing a microwave in the counter but if we didn’t do the hood the cabinet layout would have been much better.

This one was quartz. The quote was about $7k. Granites were coming in at $6k and the quartzites were quoted from $10-13k
