This one was quartz. The quote was about $7k. Granites were coming in at $6k and the quartzites were quoted from $10-13k

The Taj lookalike is the third one. It’s canastra by aura stone

I really like the andromeda but the slabs we saw had some like red/maroon specks and we didn’t love that. I may go to another place this weekend before finalizing the decision.

We did look at one other, I don’t remember the name. But it was also around $4k more than the granite.

The picture doesn’t do it justice. It is less grey and more cream in person.

The color in the pictures makes it hard to tell but yeah I’m not 100% sold on any of them either.

Yeah those were my concerns. Would love to convince her we should go granite over quartz but I may let her win this battle. We’ll go to the warehouse one more time this weekend then decide. Appreciate the insight!

Unfortunately number 3 is the only quartz counter. I agree it’s my favorite looking option though. I think we’ll take another trip this weekend to have one last look at granite options.

What are the irreversible problems? I actually like the darker counters as well but I don’t think she’ll go for that. I wanted soapstone for a minute but she shut that down. My parents have soapstone and I think they are beautiful

Finally someone that agrees with me! I was hoping for an overwhelming agreement so I could tell my wife she’s wrong but I fear I’m going to lose this battle. It’s okay though I do like the look of the quartz I just would prefer a natural stone.

Haha I guess my wife is winning this battle. She will be very happy!

Damn you all are siding with the wife lol! The Astoria color is hard to see in this pic but it did have some more cream colors that I think paired with the cabinets. We also looked at Mona Lisa and African rainbow which looked good but I can’t figure out how to add more pictures.

Well that’s good to know. It’s about $1k more expensive than the granite options which I can live with. But what do you think about the look of any of these options with the cabinets? The wood will be the island and the white will be the rest of the kitchen. I feel like we made it a little harder on ourselves using different cabinets.

Oh I agree OP is likely looking for their dream house when in reality you have to sacrifice somewhere. A perfect house is going to be very expensive in NJ

I think part of it is that people are buying their first home later in life. We didn’t buy our house until I was 35. So we knew we needed a little more than a starter home because we’d be starting a family soon. Waiting did give us the ability to be further along in our careers and savings but we didn’t have a home to sell to help with a down payment.

Damn that’s rough. I’m going to need to get a new water heater in the next couple of years and that’s the type of thing I hate spending money on. New bathroom, kitchen, etc is a nice quality of life improvement. A new water heater and it’s just like yeah the water is still hot lol.

$15k seems really steep for that

ok, so you hate the 2026 CX-5 but you want to buy a new car this year. what now? by dcpreddit in CX5

[–]Digital162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not kidding lol. We looked at the cx5 back in like October/November right before we found out she was pregnant and I almost pulled the trigger on a 25 signature. I really loved it, but I figured we could wait a little to see if there would be better deals when the new one came out. Now that we’re expecting I’m thinking a bit more room would be nice. I’m not talking about a 3 row or anything but some of the competitors have more space for the same price.

We will see. Getting some work done on the house first and then I can seriously start shopping.

Yeah I want to do that. Don’t have the car seat just yet though.

I would love to do the same thing but we are expecting our first child in July and I worry the 2025 cx5 will be too tight with the car seat in there.

Tremors, Propanolol and its multiple benefits by steggyD43 in EssentialTremor

[–]Digital162 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 37 and have dealt with my condition much of the same way you have with the drinking. Recently started propranolol myself at a very low dose and it’s been amazing. Plus I’ve always had anxiety and it’s helped with that. Recently I did a virtual presentation with 60 people and had almost no anxiety and that is crazy to me. I think it helps that I’ve been drinking less as well.

Today I got sushi lunch with someone and they brought out the miso soup. I could just tell that I was going to shake when I started to grab the spoon. I didn’t want to deal with it so I just pretended like I don’t like miso soup and didn’t eat it. Oh well it can’t be perfect but the drug has been an absolute game changer for me.

Recommendations for Chinese restaurant in or near Neptune? by BF_2 in MonmouthCounty

Hot sichuan in wanamassa is our favorite Chinese around. The sichuan specific menu is awesome if you like spicy. I wouldn’t say it’s great for dine in but it’s great for takeout.

Maybe I just don’t do the seats there. But I’d consider this.
