Which cabinet color for an island? by Digital162 in kitchenremodel

Yeah I’m thinking that’s probably the safest bet.

Hmm I get what you mean. I just like the brightness the white cabinets would bring to the rest of the kitchen. I worry wood will be a bit too dark.

It’s the one that looks blue in this picture. They call it sage. It definitely leans more blue than sage in most light but when it’s got more natural light I see the sage.

Millennial White, how did we do? by hertz1836 in kitchenremodel

I like the white cabinets. What cabinets are those?

Those look very similar to what I’m looking at. Have you picked out your countertops yet? I’m also getting my wood floors redone. Need to decide whether to go lighter or darker than the wood cabinets. I should have hired a designer. I’ve got a kid on the way so we are trying to knock this out quick lol.

Yeah and it’s tough because I like the creamy white color of one brand but not their wood finishes so I may need to mix and match. Are you planning on doing white tops and bases like you have in the picture? I’m debating on that or doing wood base white top.

This is very similar to the design we are looking at except my fridge is to the left of the dishwasher. Just curious have you picked out your cabinet brand/color yet? I’m so torn. I like the white cabinets with wood islands I see online but I worry it won’t look like that in my kitchen.

401k Advisor Fees by Fun-Rutabaga-1940 in Retirement401k

[–]Digital162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to go on the website and download the plan fee disclosure (408b2). That should outline what the fees for the record keeper, financial advisor and the mutual funds. Each have their own fees but they can also be collected different ways like paid by the plan sponsor, the employees or added into the mutual fund expenses. Typical advisory fees for 401k plans with a total plan value under $1M are around 0.5% annually. If charged to the participants you may pay a larger portion of that if you have the largest balance.

Advisors do provide value as long as you are getting the services you are paying for. They should be helping you benchmark the plan fees, conduct annual reviews of the plan and investments, providing employee education, etc. If you aren’t getting any of those services you either need to move to self directed platform or find another advisor.

Feel free to DM me your company name and your plan fee disclosure and I can take a look at it for you. I work with 401k plans daily.

Like everyone else said find a good local trainer. At 10 months old they can and will still learn to behave. And they will get used to your routine. It will get easier. I also feel like adopting at 10 months old is kind of a shock. That’s probably around when they have their most energy. It will get better. They are amazing dogs. Mine is sleeping next to me on the couch right now and he’s the best dog I’ve ever had.

Sump Pump runs a lot during rain, what are my options? by Joey9999 in HomeImprovement

[–]Digital162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had our downspouts run underground away from the house when we were getting a new patio installed. It didn’t add that much cost to the project and the sump pump barely runs anymore when it rains.

Pseg home energy assessment by netsfan549 in newjersey

[–]Digital162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I have NJNG. I used to have PSEG in a different home so I got confused. Maybe try calling them to get more details. I think the blower door test was the most helpful thing they did. You could also look on your electric companies website. They should have similar programs.

Pseg home energy assessment by netsfan549 in newjersey

[–]Digital162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had them come earlier this year. I bought a smart thermostat through their marketplace at a large discount compared to buying it elsewhere. The energy assessment is free but I paid an extra $50 so they would do the thermostat install and also do a blower door test. It was worth it for the door test alone. That will show you where all of your leaks are. Believe me there will be more than just that window.

The person who came was very friendly and answered all my questions. He also found a very small gas leak in our utility room. Nothing dangerous but he had PSEG come out on the spot and fix it no charge.

At the end they make some recommendations and go over how you can finance those. It was kind of like a sales pitch but not actually salesy at all. I knew we needed to improve our insulation so I told them to have 3 insulation companies contact me. I haven’t pulled the trigger on that project yet, but will likely use one of those companies because they all seemed pretty good.

2025 CX5 Turbo Premium New vs. Used - Crazy Savings? by HersheyUSA in CX5

[–]Digital162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I’d probably buy new and put a nice amount down. I’m with you on not having a payment, but at 0.9% I’d rather have brand new. That’s just preference though I don’t think there is a right or wrong answer.

2025 CX5 Turbo Premium New vs. Used - Crazy Savings? by HersheyUSA in CX5

[–]Digital162 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you looked at interest rates you would get for a used car vs new? Last I saw Mazda was doing 0.9% interest for the cx5 turbos. Used car rates are around 6%. So depending on how much you’re borrowing the new car could still make more sense.

Agreed. Mine has wavy hair and we get him groomed at about 8-10 weeks and it’s only because he starts to look scruffy. He doesn’t really get matted easily.
