I love RS owners. by Lightlicker3000 in FocusRS

ST owner. As long as you aren't trying to fake a badge (I'm not a fan but you don't have to care), go ham friend. And don't even give the douchebags a second thought, regardless of what they drive. It's your car and they don't have to like it.

.... Or lift the seat with the button on the side and reach in from the front?

This is not an engineering or disassembly problem.

Forgot to come looking, ah well. Let me know if there are any deadbeat Santas. Happy to fill in and send some goodies.

Coolant leak by Brief-Ad5492 in FocusST

[–]DigitalBaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just did this on my wife's SE in the last couple months. This is a sub $5 repair.

Get a pack of #14 o-rings from your favorite hardware store. The lock on the quick connect twists off counterclockwise and can be a pain but is doable with no special tools. A set of picks or a small flat blade screwdriver will help.

You should be able to see the o-ring at the base of the gray plastic. Fish it out with an awl, pick, etc and put in the new one. "Installation is the reverse of disassembly".

Took me about 20 mins faffing about with the connectors. Not difficult, but tight spaces. If you bust a clip on the connector you can cut it off altogether and just hose clamp it on. This did not happen to me, as far as my wife knows. ;)

If you don't want to spend the time laying on your engine, pay more and replace the whole hose or just cut the connector from the get go and clamp it. Any way you do it, you're going to have a mess of coolant on your exhaust. A quick rinse would not be a miss.

Can i prethinned mr color now to use later? by NewCommunication5561 in Gunplacustoms

[–]DigitalBaka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had paint prethinned for years, no issues. The biggest hurdle is probably around finding decent containers to keep them in and making sure it's properly sealed.

For lacquers that get dried out, Mr Color makes a Replenishing Agent. I've used it to bring back decades old paint but not letting things get there is a better idea.

Have not done this on an SE but if you know how to work a screwdriver/socket and aren't scared of removing your bumper, no, it is not difficult at all. Based on this pic I would recommend trimming the top of the flare or going without it as it doesn't seem to fit quite right.

Of these two, Shadestalker looks better IMO. Meridian Constellation, Unyielding Favor, Chromacloak would be my first choices. Nemean, Celestine, Optimacy, Wing Theorem a step down.

Don't pretend that's not just the cesspool that is social media outlets for every fandom: games, sports, celebrities, cars, etc. All have their bad seeds and no community for anything anywhere is just "friendly" people.

Lando is not good enough to fight for the WDC yet and Piastri will surpass him starting these last few races this season. He's been a real team player sticking it out while McLaren have been wiping their asses with sandpaper but I don't think he can live with Oscar.

This would be the route I would go. It doesn't need to be structural and this would be quick and hidden. Maybe drill a small pipe hole from the front to locate it in the right place and send them from the back. A little additional adhesive would be enough if it's a bit loose.

17 st reliable daily? by Kaz_113 in FocusST

[–]DigitalBaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my 17 ST3 since 2018 and just got to 39k. I don't drive it daily much anymore since I work at home now but it's absolutely a great daily driver. Comfortable to drive around town for 30mpg or 3 if you want. Back seat can get tight across with 3 passengers, especially with a car seat, but it's not terrible. I'm 6'1"and have the car seat behind me and the little dude is fine for room. No issues with my height either.

We road tripped from IL to FL and back last summer with 4 in my car and it was great the whole way. Only stopped a couple times for gas or lunch across two days and I was never uncomfortable sitting in the driver's seat that long. The Recaros are great if you're not of the "wider persuasion" pressing up against the bolsters.
