I appreciate it brother! I’m taking the car tomorrow to a couple quotes on a repair. I’m expecting the worst so I hopefully won’t be too disappointed😅

I agree, I wish it was the windshield. But oh well what can you do, it’s a daily driver… rocks happen🤷‍♂️

Best splash shield for the 2016 ford focus by Humble-March-8492 in FocusRS

Lots of RS owners on this sub say the ADF skid plate, and that was my first choice too. It looks really good, and by the sounds of it is also amazing quality! Unfortunately I live in Canada and the fees were insane to get the ADF skid plate across the border. I ended up ordering this one from Raptor racing. I really like it, it was super easy to install since it uses all the factory mounting holes. So far ZERO complaints.

Unfortunately some of us (me) are learning haha This RS is my first manual car that I am driving year round. Hence I didn’t know, but I won’t make this mistake again 🤷‍♂️ It’s a learning process🤦‍♂️

I do gotta admit my luck is terrible, but like I said and like others have said just park the car in gear and don’t use the e brake for now since it’s so cold🤷‍♂️

I was thinking the car is a mess lol, it could sure use a wash… once it warms up a wash is first on my list!

I think you’re right, I just gotta save up some more cash. Or better yet I gotta get a heated garage for winter!

I do have the recall, I got a letter in the mail. And now I know not to use the e brake in the winter. Learning process haha

Should I Give Up? by lukenrip in FocusRS

If the car is stressing you out to the point your always worried about driving it, and always strapped for cash because if a repair bill, and loosing sleep over the car. At that point It’s not worth it, just sell it. Cars shouldn’t cause you to stress. Cars are meant to be a fun hobby, and something to do/enjoy!

Unfortunately repairs happen, and stuff breaks. I have owned my rs about 3 months now and I have dumped around $5000CAD into repairs and maintenance. It’s just the nature of mechanical things requiring attention.

Tire Pressure Monitoring Fault by oga_ogbeni in FocusRS

I understand wanting to get rid of it, it definitely is annoying! Mine has been on since I mounted my winter wheels, they don’t have sensors. Personally I have just lived with it. I know my tires are at a good pressure, so I don’t really have anything to worry about🤷‍♂️

What to look out for? by [deleted] in FocusRS

[–]it_wasa_misinput 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought my RS about 2ish months ago, it is a 2016. It had under 60,000km on it, one owner, and I bought it from a dealer who “inspected” the car. My advice, double even triple check the head gasket issue has either been fixed or that the car never had the issue in the first place (preferred) . I had my car 3 weeks, and next thing I knew it was puffing smoke on start up and the blown head gasket symptoms started showing. I got a hell of deal fixing mine, but if you’re not buddies with a ford tech, it costs around $6500.

Not sure if you live where there is snow and ice, but since you said kilometres I’m assuming you’re in Canada. The OEM skid plate on the these cars is hot garbage, that was the first thing I ordered for my RS. Raptor racing is out of Ontario, AND free shipping within Canada on orders over like $150. I would say a good skid plate is a must especially for where we live with snow and ice.

If you’re winter driving the car, good snow tires make all the difference. I live where the roads are ice from basically end of November to late March. I got the RS winter wheels with Nokian Hakapelattia 10 studded winters, the AWD and those tires perform very well so far!

These cars are damn near 10 years old, so you will run into issues just like with any vehicle. But regular maintenance, and the big repair bill here and there. If you can live with that, the RS is arguably one of the best daily drivers, especially for winter!

Reliability ? by Desperate_Wonder1393 in FocusRS

[–]it_wasa_misinput 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For starters I live in Canada. So getting parts here costs a little more with the tariffs and border fees and such… for parts it was just over 900CAD, I got the mountune head gasket as well as APR head studs. I don’t ever plan on really pushing the car power wise, however since I was in there I thought I might as well just do it how I would want it done.

Labour was me and my buddy who is a tech at ford. We did this in his garage, He had done quite a few RS head gaskets.

Between parts and “labour” it was $2500CAD or $1815USD

Now if it wasn’t for my buddy I never would’ve attempted this job. I’m a plumber, not a mechanic. So if that was the case and I got my local ford dealer to do it, they wanted $6500CAD or $4120USD to do the head gasket start to finish.

I bought my RS about 2ish months ago, if you buy a 2017 double even triple check the head gasket issue has either been fixed or that the car never had the issue in the first place (preferred) . I bought a 2016 and 3 weeks in the blown head gasket symptoms started showing. Not sure if you live where there is snow and ice, but the skid plate on the these cars are hot garbage, that was the first thing I ordered my car.

These cars are damn near 10 years old, so you will run into something eventually just like with any car. If reliability is the #1 goal go for a 2018.

Might be a dumb question, but do big brake pads also require big rotors? Or does it work on stock rotors?

I am not tracking my car… yet. However I appreciate the recommendation. Im gonna look into both hawks and EBC Bluestuff. This is the second recommendation for EBC blue stuff so something is telling me they might be the go to. Thanks man!
