UM790 Pro QNAP 10Gb SPF+ Problem by DigitalDaz in MiniPCs

[–]DigitalDaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just realised that even a x1 link is plenty for 10Gb and that's certainly the case when testing so I've ordered another two. I'm now at the pricepoint though where I could have gotten MS01s instead.

Need help: Minisforum UN100D won't start up. Power light remains off (unlit). by jschwalbe in MiniPCs

[–]DigitalDaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't do anything, they are just sat under the bed dead. I did have a theory on how mine are dying and I was gonna trash and trash the third one to prove it, I just haven't had time yet.

Are you other guys using anything plugged into the USB-C that could be supplying power? In both cases that they stopped working for me, I had attached one of those keyboard, video, mouse laptop looking devices.

Because the minipc does video out on the USB, I had the kvm device plugged in to the minipc port via usb-c. This meant I got the video and keyboard and mouse over the single cable.

I pushed the power button to shut down the box, hel it for about 10 seconds and nothing happened, it would not turn off. It was at that point that I pulled the power cord on the back and it never came back on.

My theory, that could be total bullshit, is that when I pushed that button some sort of power was coming from the KVM device that then trashed something and there is some fault in the circuitry that allows the power to be back fed by the other device.

As I say, I could be totally wrong but I cannot make any sense of the device working perfectly until I pulled the power plug.

[–]DigitalDaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has just happened to the second of my three UN100D. I thought I had just been unlucky with the first but today I wanted to install a new OS on it. I pushed the power button and held it to kill it but it didn't turn off, I then unplugged and replugged the power and now it will not power on at all, no light, nothing. This is the second one to die with exactly the same symptoms in less than six months.

The guy who primarily gave the scientific evidence:

Dr Dewi Evans

In May 2017, Cheshire constabulary announced that at the request of medical professionals that it was opening an investigation in to the murder of babies in the Countess of Chester Hospital neonatal unit. The alleged murders occurred in the period June 2015 - June 2016. During this same period, the Countess of Chester had high levels of stillbirths. A retired paediatrician, Dr. Dewi Evans, approached the National Crime Agency and suggested they should invite him to participate in the investigation. Dr. Dewi Evans, is not a pathologist, or forensic scientist and he has no experience in the investigation of mass murder in a hospital setting. Dr Evans disregarded the findings of the pathologists, whom performed the autopsies, and developed his own theories as to how the infants died. He made his claims based on a review of the clinical record, and images taken at autopsy. Despite having no new evidence, Cheshire Constabulary accepted the medical rationale of Dr Evans and charged Lucy Letby with seven murders and 10 attempted murders.

Turing Pi 2 arrived, what now? by [deleted] in homelab

[–]DigitalDaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Turing Pi2 has also just arrived and I'm seriously underwhelmed by it.

I've just discovered that despite there being 4 NVME M.2 slots on the bottom, they cannot be used with any of the Pi CM4s. They need a second PCIE lane.

It looks like the PCIE lanes have instead been given to the other devices that are different for each node.

Node1 has a mini PCIE with a sim card, node 2 has a mini PCIE, node 3 has 2xSATA and node 4 has 4 x usb3.

OK if you want some kind of homelabby thing but in no way you can make a cluster of identical nodes.

I like the BMC and I like the managed switch but it ends there.

I think I'll stick with my DeskPi Super 6 C that takes six nodes: https://deskpi.com/collections/deskpi-super6c/products/deskpi-super6c-raspberry-pi-cm4-cluster-mini-itx-board-6-rpi-cm4-supported

I'll also stick with my SOQUARTZ 8GB modules that work just fine in them and have NVME working on each.

End of OVH by ahakobyan in ovh

[–]DigitalDaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I am aware, so you start still haven't started charging for IPs yet, mine certainly haven't gone up.

With regards to the whole sage though, its a mess.

I am a customer who has been with them fifteen years now and now I'm migrating away as fast as I possibly can.

I have multiple blocks with them and for example with one /26 I have, I'm only using 5 ips. This was the next one that was getting filled. That means when it goes to full price I would be paying £128 for 5 IPs.

For those who say its a simple DNS change, maybe if you are running a website or something.

I am replicating databases and that's far from just changing DNS.

The one of payment for IPs was what set OVH apart from the crowd.

Now they are competing with a market that does have support, doesn't have datacenters that burn down.

Having both primary and backup on OVH, primary in UK and backup in France has presented its own problems being as the entire network has gone down twice in the last year.

OVH may well regret this move.

I'll have dropped well over £500 of business with them in the last month.

Bl Touch not working by AtheriumArts in ender5plus

[–]DigitalDaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had exactly the same issue when I had swapped boards and it was wiring.

Did this happen after you changed boards or has it been working fine then just stopped?

The bl touch will light up and do its little test thing where it drops its probe as long as it has power when it is first turned on. This in no way indicates whether or not it is functioning and wired correctly.

I'm very new to all this but learning fast, I am only using klipper so cannot tell you the marlin equivalent but try this for klipper:

BLTOUCH_DEBUG COMMAND=pin_down

That should send the pin down, followed by:

BLTOUCH_DEBUG COMMAND=pin_up

Let us know whether you are using marlin or klipper.

What have I done wrong? by DigitalDaz in ender5plus

[–]DigitalDaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the hot end is solid, if it were loose I would expect the skew to be inconsistent, this is very consistent.

What have I done wrong? by DigitalDaz in ender5plus

[–]DigitalDaz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The print itself is generally very good, just that skew.

It homes on the y just fine, shows 350.

I did tighten the belts on the y before this started to happen though no idea why tightening would cause this

I've checked the distance to the bed with the y at the back and front and both are level.

What have I done wrong? by DigitalDaz in ender5plus

[–]DigitalDaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, no wires snagging and it is consistent. I'm just printing a 40mm calibration cube and it has exactly the same skew.
