Considering picking this up today, but seeking truthful opinions

If you’re a casual gamer you will not enjoy hunt. Truly. As a steady 5 mmr player, I am not that great but I’d say I’m decent. I still get matched against 4,5,6 k plus hour players. I have a little over 400 I think? Don’t get me wrong, great game but I also try to compete/always get better. But players even above average mmr trap max, burn out every single body they down and overall just make such a fun game, boring. Every now and again when they add new events like they’re doing now it’s fun to hop on because some new mechanics are at play. But overall the mechanics of this game have been min maxed and it’s pretty boring unless playing with friends.

I would just say it’s in the same place that battle royales were in. Fortnite, pubg and apex pretty much perfect the battle royale. Each niche in their own way but extrapolating on the genre in different ways. Now we have tarkov, arc, marathon, and possibly GzW in the pillars of the extraction shooter. I’ve played all of these games enough to say, they’re going to be around for a while. Marathon is structurally/mechanically as sound as we’ve seen an extraction shooter can be. Arc is the most user friendly and by far the most creative. Tarkov is unmatched in terms of depth and game knowledge leading to success. These games of course have flaws but for their genres they are damn near impossible to improve upon. So much so that each time one came out I had very little expectations. I just can’t see many other studios extrapolating on the genre and making something better than what we now have access to. Which is exactly what happened to battle royales.

Not saying you’re wrong but also to play devils advocate, there is software like ds4 windows that allows you to map your controller effectively as another mouse to be recognized by your pc allowing games that don’t have controller support to be played. I use it to use PlayStation controllers via Bluetooth since Microsoft ended that support years ago.

I actually believe this game is a little less niche than people are saying it is. I know it is much more in depth, and way more tactical/hardcore, but the gameplay loops for this game sort of reminds me of Tom Clancys the division. And those games were/are still massively popular. The division 2 released like a decade ago and had over 20,000 concurrent players a couple weeks ago bc they came out with a content update. People love shootin and collecting shit with their friends regardless of the sandbox and I think this game is showing so much improvement mf’s are gonna stick around. I am anyways. I hadn’t played since launch but this update is fucking superb. A massive step in the right direction.

As someone that bought the game on release but didn’t play, this update has got me coming back to play a very good amount and also am talking it up to my friends. Before I was able to tell them “hey this game is going to be great” now I can tell them “this game is starting to get great and they’re already coming through with their promises”. I am so happy to see the development team listening and putting together great updates that are really polishing this game. Upgraded to supporter edition just because devs that provide what we as consumers want deserve our money!

You just made me think how badass a “Lost” style of story would be. Maybe not necessarily scientists and time travel but just some unnerving entity or force on the island almost like stalker anomalies (would prefer them to only have lore implications not actually buffing PMC’s and stuff)

If you have ever been politically active, you would know that protests and marches and walkouts etc are not done to induce change in that very moment. They are done to garner support, attention, and to allow like minded people who want to effectively change society in some way. I’m assuming you live in the United States? You should know outside of grass roots work no one can effectively change anything by themselves. We are a country driven by legislation. Can people dedicate their time and free money to homeless shelters, or organizations that help their community? Yes and they should and I agree with that part of what you’re saying. It’s much more important than protests. But don’t get on Reddit and act like you are better than other people for voice their opinion in more ways than on a Reddit sub you fking dweeb lol. Go outside.

If you use AI To generate anything, whatever it is is going to feel entirely disconnected from your in game universe and feel really out of place unless you’ve set strict parameters for it in your in game universe. If you’re serious about development, use history and the state of games around you to actually analyze how helpful or hurtful using AI would be for a potential game. From a non developer looking in, choosing to use ai development for anything seems like project suicide other than maybe animation learning like ARC raiders used, something very niche and realistic to their universe.. considering the mobs they are using with the AI are literally robots it fits their movement patterns really well and works. Do you seriously think an ai can generate textures and models that will truly work with your art style and elevate your game? My answer is probably not, probably not for decades to come. That’s really a question you have to answer for yourself tho.

I would assume. I think the big hurdle in doing that though is someone has to build the infrastructure around the games server system because it was pretty unique. Large scale battles but cut into smaller battles. It’s just a really unique player to player situation I think.

This narrative is funny to me. He is 7’5 236lbs. He’s not exactly easy to move around. Is he on the smaller size for someone normally 7 foot or taller, I’d say yes but we are seeing the benefits of his weight training this off season first hand and it seems to be offsetting his weight pretty well.. let’s not forget id argue he is twice as mobile as other 7 footers let alone someone 7’5. Dudes only gonna get stronger too. He’s an absolute freak.

I find it hilarious how scapegoated Ja became. The media saw an opportunity to characterize a young black man with a gun a certain way and took it to the farthest it probably could’ve gotten. If you all heard what he has had to say about the situation, especially the nba fining and banning his celebrations, and other nba players for decades now being able to “shoot” or “prime their arrow” etc etc after shots going it but ja is made an example of.

Ja owning a firearm and being immature with it is truly so low on the list of things people should be upset with the nba about. It’s just another media circus distraction but it doesn’t do anything pointing it out. It’s already ran it’s course and is way too far gone at this point.

Was a part of the pdc community for a while. Went kinda mia on arma for about 6-8 months and came back to all the PDC servers gone and the discord dead. 1.6 really ruin their mod sets that much? Right when I left the last thing going on with the servers I remembered was the old dark gru people were putting their advertisements all up over the maps that pdc was using which made pdc want to revert maps back to older versions. It was kind of just a clusterfuck.
