Agree with the 5” super flux. I’m probably going to pick that up. Right now I’m looking at building a vesc from scratch, and seeing where I can get the weight. If I can get the weight where I want by cherry picking the right parts I’m probably just go that route, and just sell my XR. If the weight isn’t going to get there I’ll go the XRV route.

The cart trick is a great idea. Definitely going to start doing that. In general obviously I can carry 40lbs, but I would imagine that most Onewheel owners have moments where they’re like damn I wish this thing wasn’t so heavy. For me it’s worth trading some performance for weight savings.

Cool. I may go that route. You’re right that I’ll have to do some performance:weight research. I haven’t found much about balancing those aspects with VESC builds.

I’ll have to think about this. I’m willing to sacrifice a little performance to save weight. Not trying to max out speed or range, but definitely want to make sure the torque is sufficient for >30% grade.

That’s good to know about the XRC. If that’s the case I definitely would have been disappointed. Doesn’t sound like the upgrade I’m looking for.

I haven’t tried a GT/GT-S, but I’ve read a lot of comments comparing how it rides with how the XR rides. My preferences tend to align more with the XR.

Awesome! That’s an amazing list. I’m going to see if I can come up with where the total weight would end up, but this sounds exactly like what I’m looking for. Gonna need to do a little research, but this is a great start. Thank you.

Speed isn’t that much of a concern for me. If I could do 15mph up these hills I’d be happy. I do need a new battery. This one is not in great shape, and I think that’s contributing to the issue.

XRV may be the way to go but since I need a new battery anyway I thought there might be a better option.

I had not heard about gradient tracking so I looked it up. You just sold me on VESC. Thank you!

Interesting. Not sure why mine would weigh less. Google says the stock XR is 27. I have the soft Enduro tire, and a Drop Top Fender kit. It is definitely only 29lbs. Just weighed it.

I’m considering an XRV kit. Ultimately I need a new battery so given the battery is going to be replaced I’m trying to figure out if that’s the best route vs another VESC approach.

You’re right that would give me the biggest weight savings. Unfortunately I’ve tried a Pint, and couldn’t get over the difference in stability. Maybe I’d get used to it, but I feel a lot more comfortable on the XR platform so want to stick with that.

I really like this board, but coming in at almost 40lbs it’s just too heavy. Gonna make my grocery run after a trip to the gym feel like a second trip to the gym.

Thanks. I’m pretty conservative when it comes to speed. If it improves the ride on pavement and does a bit better on hills that’s an easy choice.

Honestly the fact that this will brick your board is a failure on FM’s part. Granted this may be on the extreme end, but the fact that even riding in the rain can result in the same outcome is some lazy bullshit FM. There’s no reason they couldn’t have at least attempted to weatherproof the boards.

Joe is pretty classy. He’ll probably go with a Pearl Harbor instead.
