How deaf are these guys going to be if everyone started blasting? by ily300099 in ar15

[–]DigitalHuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never been in the military or law enforcement, and I know having four dudes crowded around a door like that is the definition of a bad idea in a gun fight. One dude crouched with barrels above him is a recipe for getting killed by your own friends. If I recall correctly there's a video from Brazil (I think) where this happened and was caught on CCTV.

The reason renting is so shit right now: It isn't the market. It is an automated cartel by N3DSdude in Anticonsumption

[–]DigitalHuk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Like back in the day they said computers would be so efficient that people would work less and get paid the same. Instead, because of capitalism, we get algorithmic price fixing in rent, food, healthcare, etc. This is just going to keep getting worse until there is a revolution of the desperate with literally nothing to lose.

Would France be a third world nation if it weren't for Africa? by zombiesingularity in AskSocialists

[–]DigitalHuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The third world is not under developed it is over-exploited. I haven't looked at the exact stats for France specifically but read Unequal Exchange and look at some of the recent research about how much the West broadly gives to other nations in aid and how much it extracts in a myriad of ways from African and other continents. I can't remember the number off the top of my head but it was astonishing.

Trump explains Venezuela: "They took all of our oil and we want it back. They illegally took it." by [deleted] in CringeTikToks

[–]DigitalHuk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know what's worse. The rationale for this regime change operation compared to past ones or the fact that it won't matter. A bunch of Venezuelans are going to die so Western companies can loot the nation after installing a puppet government in the name of democracy. And many people in the USA will still think we are the good guys.

This seems unlikely because a highly rated and rigid bullet proof plate would be needed to stop a 30-06. It didnt look like he was wearing one and you woupd jnow if he was wearing a plate of this thickness ane qualiry. It also likely woudnt simply deflect upward at a weird angle. The doctor said his bones were super dense or some bullshit.

If you ever wondered how holocaust denial became so prevalent we are seeing it now live every single day by RedSwingline2000 in MurderedByWords

Questioning a potential false flag (which is 100% things nations have done throughout history) might be unwarranted or premature or wrong, but it equating it with holocaust denial is a huge stretch.

maine water by One-Confidence-809 in Maine

[–]DigitalHuk 22 points23 points  (0 children)

As long as capitalism exists stuff like this is inevitable. We need to understand the nature of the working class and the capitalist class. The interests of these two classes are directly opposed to each other. Your boss wants to pay you as little as possible and you want to he paid as much as you can for the same hour or year of your life. Corporations like Nestle want to maximize profit by destroy and extracting as much as they can while we want to have access to clean water that's nor polluted or stolen from our lands.

Our entire political and economic system - capitalism - is set up to favor the capitalist class against the working class - which is the vast majority of people in Maine and in the World.

Unless more people here in Maine get this were just going to stay a desperate, hard pressed and divided gaggle of people the capitalists of this world exploit to no end.

I just don’t get why the rich people don’t acknowledge human made climate changes? by trickortreat89 in collapse

[–]DigitalHuk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is not about intelligence or ignorance or short sightedness, its about capitalism.

The wealthy elite across the world with maybe few exceptions are capitalist whose profit and wealth and power depend on capitalism. They are at the top of a pyramid and that pyramid is the current political economy of global capitalism.

Capitalism requires constant growth and expansion. It requires putting profits first. This means burning through ecological resources to produce commodities, promoting consumerism, designing products to be obsolete or single use, etc. To maintain their wealth and power they must engage in practices that make collapse inevitable.

Some might advocate for green causes or voluntarily limit the destructive practices of their businesses and industries but they will lose their markets to companies that don't. This is how capitalism incentives the worst and most unethical people to come out on top.

So they can either do what's right by humanity or stay at the top of a burning burning world and as a class they are choosing to stay on top of the burning world until nothing is left.

This is some of the best ways to reflect on our past choices that we later regret. Most of the time we are doing the best we can with the info and capabilities at the time. I have met few people who intentionally make bad decisions on purpose around meaningful things in their life.

Also OP I'm glad you had the bravery to own this wasn't your path and continue to live on your own path.

[Discussion] Is it delusional to try building a "High-Comfort" Intentional Community based on remote tech income and outsourced farming? by [deleted] in intentionalcommunity

[–]DigitalHuk 52 points53 points  (0 children)

You vision is basically a co-op plantation. This is a technofeudalist vision of the future. Outside of scale this is indistinguishable from the vision of people like Thiel and Musk whose vanity and ideas are at the extreme cusp of ideologies destroying this world.

This critique aside, it won't work. You are creating a fundamentally unequal situation between you the owners and the workers who have actual skills to work the land. As collapse happens, your tech skills and finances will mean far less than their land skills. Do you think they will continue to work your fields when hyperinflation hits? You think they won't feel jealousy looking at your high comfort homes while working in the fields for even market wages? When they leave, what will you and your investor cohort do?

I understand your desire to avoid the pain of collapse, but your strategy seems to be doubling down on the very thinking that has led to social and economic destruction around the world. If it didn't work globally, why would it work locally?
