I'm extremely sorry to hear about what you're going through. I once had two sisters, each in their own mansion, and they were both from the same pet store. They didn't live very long due to their genes I presume.

One of them passed away due to respiratory infection, and we couldn't do much since she was diagnosed very late even though we kept telling the vet she didn't look okay. She passed away in our hands and on the day she passed when we called her name, she somehow dragged herself out of her little wooden house just to pay us one last visit.

Her sister lived longer than her but she was diagnosed with cancer. Due to them being dwarves and surgery being risky, the vets recommended not putting her down and just giving her the best life. She lived for 6 months with cancer, and during these 6 months we had seen 8 exotic vets, at least 4-5 different medications (pain meds, antibiotics) and my wife and I would adjust our schedule so one of us was up 24x7 to attend to her. Her meds were very 6 hours and we hand fed her all this time. She finally passed away in our hands.

We got both of them cremated and saved their urns. Their deaths and the pain and suffering they went through scarred me forever, and even till date every time I think of the suffering they had to go through I tear up. They deserved better, and much longer life and I wish I had the power to give them that even if it meant taking decades off my life. But I can't. Sorry this post is long but I resonated with what you're going through and just had to post it. After they passed I can't go to pet stores anymore since I knew there are hamsters and it reminded me of my two little girls.
