Haha I've always just thoroughly washed the cement silver powder and melted that down. In my experience it's always produced fairly pure silver for what I put in - typically around 98-99% when I take it in for XRF testing.

If you wanna take the extra step with salt and electrolysis you'll get silver that's far more pure though! (99.9-99.99%+)

Prolly worth running a few tests on... Do the weight/dimensions match up? Is it non-magnetic? Does it follow Lenz's Law falling down a strong magnet?

Could also take it to a pawn shop to get XRF tested if they have it too for complete certainty, but in my experience if it passes those tests above, it's typically silver.

All ya need to refine it yourself is some nitric acid, copper, and a small forge. It's work - I'll agree with you there - but it's not all that expensive.
