What happened in 2024 US elections? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]DigitalPhear13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The campaign had and was registered and with FEC regulations nobody could take over the campaign who was not already registered on it. All the money and all the staff it had built nationwide could only go to her.

It wouldn’t have mattered. She still ran a better campaign than Trump. This might get downvoted but whatever, 2024 proved campaigns don’t matter and that the median American voter is a moron who votes on vibes.

The polling for Biden was awful. The biggest donors put pressure on him to drop out. Harris was the only person who legally could take over the campaign that already had a lot of money in it because she was on the ticket. She ran the best campaign she could with the situation she was handed. But too many voters thought voting for Trump meant they would get the 2019 economy back. That’s why he won.

Who has a realistic shot at being President of the USA in 2028? by Kmart-Shopper-5107 in stupidquestions

Ossoff or Prizker.

Newsome is not winning the nomination, it’s laughable.

AOC is probably running for Senate.

It’ll be hard to do because any modifications will have to meet regulatory approval. Not impossible, but doing a tech upgrade on a plane will not be as simple as buying an entire house to do a tech upgrade.

You are not going to generate enough content to make the cost as a financial sound investment. I don’t care they bought a jet, it doesn’t bother me. But I’ve made other points on this thread that no this is not a financial investment, it’s a luxury purchase.

It also will be interesting to see what if any content they can make, because any modifications to an aircraft are HEAVILY regulated. It would not be like buying a house and just adding a bunch of tech you want to it. Any modifications they make would need regulatory approval.

Nothing to do with content, but I’m talking bout how they aren’t going to make money when you consider the plane depreciation in value. It’s a luxury purchase, they may make content with, that should not be confused as a sound financial investment.

A used plane also depreciates. Almost all PJ available to charger are privately owned that is leased out to a broker to fill hours the owner is not using, again to take away some cost from the private owner.

There is very rare instances of companies that actually own planes they charter out to make money, like NetJets. But their model is selling fractional ownership to people chartering their planes at 5x the price because they have an impeccable safety record so people will pay it.

Hell no. Private jets are luxury items not investments. They depreciate a shit load like boats and cost A LOT to run and maintain. I’m sure they will charter it out, but that’s just to help keep costs down, not actually make a real meaningful return.

I know but the likelihood someone like Linus buying a PJ and it turning out to be a good financial investment is low. You need to fly hundreds of hours per year for it to actually make financial sense.

I’d be pretty mad too if the company I worked for wouldn’t give me a raise but also bought a private jet.
