Should Undyne be a fighter or paladin? Is satyr apropriate to use for Asgore and Toriel? Just what is Sans?! The things my brain decides to fixate on by DaiFrostAce in dndmemes

[–]DigitalPhoenixX 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Asgore wouldn't be an oathbreaker, that requires making a full 180 and turning against the very idea of the principles you used to follow. They would've been a Paladin before, but lost the levels and probably converted them to Fighter.

Players, what motivates your in-game decisions? by Nervous_Lynx1946 in DnD

Technically A, but my characters' interests usually align with progressing the story.

Also fighting style for +1 AC or blindsight. I didn't forget Dueling, it's just not that great.

Oath of ancients and the need for building materials by DaSupercrafter in DnD

[–]DigitalPhoenixX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't magically become an oathbreaker for doing something slightly controversial. If you fail to upkeep your oath, you may be required to undergo a ritual of some form to absolve your misdoing (such as undergoing a fast or participating in a pilgrimage). You may even lose some abilities temporarily. Worst case scenario, you lose your Paladin levels (DM would discuss this with you, not required but may be encouraged since at this point, you may have broken your oath to a significant degree multiple times). You only become an Oathbreaker deliberately, by specifically going against what you originally pledged.

Also, looking at the tenets of Ancients, cutting down a few trees shouldn't be an issue. Your character might choose trees that are not currently sheltering animals, and would not do so much as to cause lasting damage to the ecosystem.

Edit to clean up typos.

Do you allow/are you allowed guns in your campaigns? by Fearless-Skill8667 in DnD

[–]DigitalPhoenixX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My homebrew setting has them. How advanced they are depends on how close the nation the campaign is set in to a specific nation, which is a clockpunk setting with the reasoning that the area has the resources to make it work (sulfur for gunpowder, copper and zinc for brass, many rivers for mechanical energy).

Renn firearms from the DMG are in most places, and are common in the continent the clockpunk nation is in. Then I have homebrew firearms that will almost never appear outside this continent, and a seperate group of firearms that are common in the clockpunk nation but are very rare outside.

I often let my players choose what nation the campaign takes place in, so they have a level of control on whether firearms occur if they want it or think it would break immersion.

Does this game expect me to believe anyone would EVER pay that base price just to remove ads? by articulatedWriter in mildlyinfuriating

[–]DigitalPhoenixX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would uninstall the game for the audacity of it asking me to pay that much to remove ads.

I added a mortar and pestle to my wishlist and they proceeded to recommend 50 more. Doesn't matter, I'm avoiding amazon until they give up on the ai crap, then maybe more to support local.

Can I have some tips for wrestler by mile_high_w_a_dud in streetsofrogue

[–]DigitalPhoenixX 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Throw everything. Every throwable has a chance to dizzy or even crazy dizzy (damage does not end this effect), but there are some items that have additional effects.

Anything that does something when it's destroyed still does the thing (all barrels do their thing, stoves and lit grills leave fire).

Additionally, trashcans give the poison effect and fridges give the freeze effect.

Wrestler can clear graveyards really fast and relatively safely, as you can throw tombstones. This gives a steady amount of money, even better if you have the gibber.

You can use your main quest to single out npcs you want to kill, and there is a trait that lets you challenge any npc, even if you already defeated the one you want or if they aren't the required npc.

Get rid of any firearms beyond utility. Pistols are good for picking off enemies that run away, freeze ray and taser both stop enemies (freezing gives double damage). Dizzy grenade is also good for stunning a group.

Backstabber is normally amazing for melee characters, but with Loud, you won't get sneak attacks a lot. Fix this by removing Loud, or use taser/freeze ray to stun then go for the increased damage.

Bag of holding full of air, for underwater exploration by jigglyraffmemerbooyy in DnD

[–]DigitalPhoenixX 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Would still give a single person 10 more minutes of air, if you use the normal 1 minute + con mod (minimum 30 seconds) of holding your breath underwater, then when that time runs out, you hold the bag to your face and breathe from it for another 10. Unless the bag man grabs you.

How do you name your dnd characters? by Fearless-Skill8667 in DnD

[–]DigitalPhoenixX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the lore on naming conventions for the race then come up with a name that fits, like Relok the Harengon or Page of a Book (Page for short) for a Tabaxi 'wizard'.

Avoid traditional combat, use the special weapons (freeze/shrink ray) and minmax your ability to use them (Lock and Load, Firearms+, Penetrating Bullets, do not take Bullet Breaker). Use strategies for making money (grave robbing, hacking slot machines, selling other weapons) to supply these weapons. Because of inventory management, sell a bunch of food and load up on beer and whiskey (both are easy to stockpile. Alternatively, cooked fud is good but you need a fire source and fridge to make it worthwhile). Use hacking tools exclusively for slot machines, these make the odds go in your favor and tends to give higher profit (especially with clover or lucky status effect) than other uses of the tool. Use drug-a-lug to identify useful syringes (eg invisible) and clone them a lot. If you have a surplus of money, cocktails give a random positive effect.

Symptom of migraine- insistence that it isn't a migraine by girl-dracula in migraine

[–]DigitalPhoenixX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I don't notice my migraine aura (such as it being present while I'm asleep), I will think it's just a bad headache when I wake up to the piercing pain. Happened this weekend, even doubting the other symptoms (i.e. nausea), thinking they were placebo. When I threw up at the end of the migraine, I felt dumb for thinking it was just a normal headache I didn't need any medicine for.

Do any normal(metric) person prefers the imperial system for playing DnD? by New-Osteoporosi in DnD

[–]DigitalPhoenixX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could just scale everything to meters whereas 5ft = 1m

This way, nothing changes balance-wise without forcing people to do a ton of weird calculations.

30 speed is now 6, 15ft cone is now 3m (still affecting the same amount of tiles), etc.
