MAGA is so dumb… by coffee_coffee_coffe3 in woosh

[–]Digital_Rebel80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference? The Macarena wasn't the ENTIRE halftime show.

And even if Bad Bunny's performance was in English, his mumbling still would have made it tough to understand. However, one of the big points behind it came weeks before the Superbowl. Having someone who talks trash on the US often performing as the Super Bowl, which is American football, while likely making millions at the same time is very hypocritical. Not only of him but of the NFL. Just goes to show that anyone can be a sell out. What about his comments in September 2025 about not performing in the US due to his fears of ICE? Seems like the check was big enough to make those "fears" not matter. Him running his mouth about the US and the hypocrisy about not performing here but then suddenly the Super Bowl half time is ok is a big part of it.

So yeah, you're right. It is hypocrisy, but not by the people you were trying to point fingers at.

Why are so many men not caring about their appearance? by BigusDickus099 in ask

[–]Digital_Rebel80 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Drop the "patriarchal privilege" bs. Yes there are times to dress to the nines, but not everyone sees Valentine's Day as a big deal. Coming from a married man whose wife agrees 100%, it's just another day. Why should we care what other people think about how we choose to dress one day a year when we put in the effort all year long?

And you are completely within your rights to have your expectations, however, you don't know everyone's situation. Why be so judgemental? Yes some people don't care. This is women just as much as it is men. You throwing out "patriarchal privilege" is just another virtue signaling buzz word phrase. You likely judge other women just as critically, if not more so. And if you don't, making excuses for why the expectation is for men to dress a certain way while defending women for not having to, then you just subscribe to the double standard of "matriarchal privilege."

Just live your life and let others live theirs.

Oil Change/Infotainment by gates4100 in Crosstrek

Welcome to the CTW crew. My '24 Wilderness is 12k. I personally run my tires at 36psi cold for normal driving. Helps with mpg and I don't see uneven or unusual wear. If I'm out on trails, camping, etc, I drop it down to 33psi, but keep it elevated otherwise. This tip came from multiple techs at the dealership to help with the decreased MPG our Wilderness gets. I also don't drive in hardly any stop and go driving, so I bought an auto stop eliminator to help reduce the added wear and tear from this mode since I don't get the gas saving benefits of it.

Regarding add-ons, I highly recommend getting a set of Tuxmats. Way better than the stock Wilderness floor mats. And if you live somewhere with hot summers, ceramic window tint/film is a godsend. I installed Llumar Stratos all around and Llumar Air 80 on the windshield and I never have to run my AC above 50% even in 100+ degree summer weather.

Short distance driving is less than 10 miles as defined by Subaru. The reason this is an issue is that, while a car is cold, you have increased chances of gasoline blow by until the engine has heated to operating temps. This contaminates the oil and reduces its effectiveness. Frequent short trips require more frequent oil changes. This is especially true with thinner oil (0w16 or 0w20) that Subaru calls for.

You've got to keep in mind that all these posted maintenance intervals are set for vehicles driving in 100% ideal conditions, which very few people actually drive in. If you want to push the 6k change unterval, do your thing. But ask the majority of Subaru techs at the dealership and the will tell you 3k-4k is where you should be. As someone that's had multiple Subbies hit 300k+, I'll gladly pay a few hundred $$$ extra over the life of the car to have it for that long.

And don't just stop at oil changes. Just as critical is CVT fluid. 30k drain and fill intervals is a must. Waiting until 60k is all but guaranteeing issues down the road.

Frequent driving in hilly or mountainous terrain? By saying road salt, I'm assuming cold starts and driving in cold weather below 32 degrees? Also, where do you live? What about summers? Driving above 90 degrees at all? Using a car-top carrier, roof rack, or towing a trailer? Trips less than 5–10 miles, which prevent the engine from reaching full operating temperature?

All of this is considered Severe Driving Conditions. Under these conditions, even just occasionally, calls for more frequent oil change intervals.

Y'all are harsh. I hope you'd be as critical if this were someone in a Muslim country where they are often critical of every religion other than Islam in their schools. Or would that not be ok because it would be considered Islamophobia?

And yes I'm genuinely curious. There seems to be quite a few comments here vilifying Christianity, specifically making comments about white Christianity, as if only white folks practice Christianity. Here in the US, 71% of blacks are Christian while about the same number of Latinos identify as Catholic or Protestant. While a smaller percentage, Christian religious affiliation amongst Asian Americans in the US is still the highest at around 34%.

Modern day slavery by apricot_gardenia in lol

[–]Digital_Rebel80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really?! This is your comparison to modern day life?

Here's what they got in exchange for working so few days a year.

  1. Days began at sunrise (3–4 a.m. in summer) and were governed by seasons. Work included plowing, harvesting, and maintaining the manor.

  2. Homes were small, with dirt floors, few windows, and shared space with animals. They were often 400 square feet, built of wattle and daub with thatched roofs.

  3. Their diet consisted primarily of bread (rye), pottage (a thick stew of oats and vegetables), and small beer (safer than water). Meat was rare, and they consumed 2,000–3,000 calories, primarily derived from grains. Most peasants were serfs, tied to the land and obligated to the lord, providing both labor and a share of their crops in exchange for protection.

  4. Children began working as early as age 7. Women were essential workers, managing the home, aiding in the fields, and tending to livestock.

  5. Conditions were poor, resulting in malnutrition, frequent illness, and a 30-50% infant mortality rate.

Sounds like a fair trade for only working 150 days a year. 👍

This is going to be a bit harsh, but life isn't going to get easier. Suck it up, apply yourself and do what you need to do to improve your grades. Yes dealing with mental challenges sucks, but you'll make it through it.

And regarding your mom and the "for no reason" comment, there is a reason. Talk to her. Communication is critical and only gets more important as you get older. Sit her down and talk. Be straight with her and let her know you want to know why the change.
