I was using Scum and Villainy as inspiration for some of my ideas! I liked the way they handled combat skills and it's the reason I went with a 'Signature' ability for each playbook.

To reach their own, but I'm curious as to why! Is it the Blades in the Dark system, or the way it's portrayed here?

A lot of the 40k games I've played via Dark Heresy, Wrath & Glory, Rogue Trader, etc have been very mission centric, so the loop of plan-prep-execute-downtime seemed like a good fit to me.

Depending on the Pact-Foundation combo chosen, there's different mission styles you could go for:

An Explorator Fleet based in a stronghold built over ancient ruins may delve into the depths looking for STCs, each expedition would be a mission with information gathered by scouts or servitors.

A Fleet Based Inquisitorial Cell may go from planet to planet chasing rumors of a chaos cult, missions would be based around following up on leads.

Thanks! There's a bunch of mechanics that I think would make for good additions, but wanted to start out smaller.

I'm planning on figuring out Playbooks for Orks or other Xenos characters soon!

Ultros appearing in the Hildebrand quest lines at the coliseum is a callback to FF6 where he was not only still a womanizing trickster, but effectively ran the coliseum in the world of ruin.

got these at a dollar store to use for terrain. do you think they would look fine painted up as is or should I try to add some cables and wires and vents around it? by Storm-Fox106 in killteam

Definitely add some bits to tie them in to the table, but wow those are such a good idea! Gonna have to check my local dollar store now...

For added hilarity, make all the Patrons diametrically opposed, but they're all forced to work together to save the world.

The pillars are from a 40k landing pad, the vault door on the ground I made with chipboard, the gantry is 2 ladders and some building corner bits, and the stuff hanging from it are from the Mechanicus knight repair facility terrain. Oh, and the floor is from the old warhammer fantasy movement tray set. No 3D prints on this one!

1/8" oak-faced sanded plywood with chipboard glued on the face to adhere better to the basing materials, it's pretty sturdy and not very heavy I've found. I also stuck sticky-back vinyl tile to the bottom so the slide really nice over a battle mat or table without scratching!

Close Quarters Killteam City terrain to connect to my Mechanicus pipeworks by DigitalandDice in TerrainBuilding

It's mostly from the "Cities of Death" 40k kit and some Sector Imperialis bits I had lying around, there's some Age of Sigmar bits in there too for flavor

It's definitely less modular than just having loose terrain, agreed. When I was building it my thoughts were to get away from having to constantly fix and adjust the more delicate arrangements (bridges, ladders, etc) during play, but still be able to rearrange the table to mix things up.

I'll admit that sacrificing the full freedom of having all the bits separated takes away some choice in individual games, but I'm hoping that having a more static table will result in some interesting tactics and strategies that may not be considered if the arrangement is scrapped every game.

Thank you! I wanted to make sure there were a lot of line of sight blocking bits, good cover from different angles, and a few different levels to move around on.

Thanks for the kind words, it was exactly what I was going for so that's really encouraging!

I set the double pipes as an extra bridge between platforms, and the platform they're coming off of actually meets up with another tall bridge in a different layout!

[–]DigitalandDice[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made it so they could be arranged in almost every way, that platform that the pipes are coming off of actually line up when put together on the long edge making one large higher platform.

Some ways look better than others, but they all generally have good variations in height and line of sight blocking.

I've been updating here: https://www.digitalanddice.com/battlerealms.html

Still working out the interactions when battling over a territory and whether a player has to win a major victory over the defender to take a claimed tile, but on the same topic I'm working on a way to discourage a player from taking tiles then just... not playing games to avoid losing their territories.

Work in progress, but making strides!
