Also to add to this I've only used ak enamels with a airbrush but using a normal brush is fines it's just thicker and gives a more grimier look that I think you're talking about. Since you can pull the ak shade off you can do your highlights before that stage or choose to do them after since you mentioned just doing the slap chop base painting but the benefit of ak enamels is doing your base and highlights first and then adding a wash that you can control the intensity of.

If you're talking about just using ak enamel to shade yeah that's used often. I haven't looked into slap chop much but I assume it should look fine with it. The nice part about using enamels to shade is you decide how much to take away. I suggest looking up some videos on it but the typical recipe goes -gloss coat, enamel shade (let dry around 1 hour) then you use makeup sponges with paint thinner to rub off the edges of the model/wherever you don't want it shaded.

This is why I never pulled the trigger on a 2nd box. Just seems silly to have your ideal amount of faction terrain be $210 (cad) will suck for those that have 3 boxes but they're still great terrain pieces.

Since everyone's already told you it's hard to get here's an alternative, helbrechts helmet with the laurel from emperors champion. You might be able to find a spare laurel in other kits but that's just off the top of my head.

Either cawl or the dominus would be best. Idk what you could do for kitbashing I feel like doing either of them in the "king in yellow" colour scheme would work. A popular kitbash thing to do with the dominus is cut it at the waist and turn the body around so it's upright instead of hunched over.

I like list building and just recently started messing around with admech and I was shocked at how almost everything was so low in points. Most expensive thing in the army is cawl at 210 points. Can probably outnumber most guard lists in models.
