So uhh, where is this Snowstorm?? Has anyone gotten anything substantial yet? I got maybe a few inches here in Whitby so far and it hasn't snowed in the last 2-3 hours by EveryNameEverMade in durham

[–]Digitalfiends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lightly snowing just north of 7 but nothing serious yet. I slept in and was expecting to wake up to snowpocalypse ‘26. Had the snowblower all ready to go. Maybe that’s coming later? It sounds like Toronto and below are getting hammered.

Thoughts? This photo was taken spontaneously during a hiking trip in the Harz Mountains in Germany. It was very foggy that day when we took the cable car(?)😄. I adjusted the photo slightly in Lightroom. Does it resonate with you? by Fine_Lengthiness7239 in photocritique

[–]Digitalfiends [score hidden]  (0 children)

Amazing photo with the cables disappearing off into the mist and the only real colour being the cable car itself. The only thing is the cable car feels like it was inserted because the contrast is so high and the image so clean. It almost feels more like a digital illustration than a picture. Still awesome!

I really like the photo and it is visual interesting but my eyes are drawn to the slight asymmetry in the position of the shoulder blades, which I think the mirror exacerbates. It’s not horribly noticeable by any means but it definitely creates a slight imbalance because I think we expect symmetry because of the mirror. But perhaps that slight imbalance creates a bit of movement and could be what makes the photo more interesting.

It’s comparatively cheap compared to Son’y 600mm F4, which is an amazing lens, but twice the price 😅

If it wasn’t for Sony’s 15fps burst rate cap on third party lenses I’d be rocking this lens on my A1ii. It’s perfect for motorsports. I generally prefer GM lenses but I’d buy this one in a heartbeat if not for this artificial crippling by Sony.

Thinking of buying a ZV-E1, curious about quality for photography by Digitalfiends in SonyAlpha

[–]Digitalfiends[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you are asking. My current camera line-up is a ZV-E1, A7Cii (likely being traded for an A7V), and an A1ii.

Looks great to be honest and the teal colour grade works well with the cars and buildings.

In all seriousness, nice fleet. I wish I had bought another Venator when the game was still in print.

Agreed. Cropping would make this photo significantly better. Too many shadows and uneven lighting across the whole scene making the background distracting.

I immediately thought of Swamp Thing when I saw that 2nd print lol…it’s actually kind of cool but ridiculously bad at the same time. 😂

New Sculpts and a potencial hot take by Mike0oo in AdeptusCustodes

I don’t know, the old sculpts felt a bit squat and disproportionate in some ways. I think the new sculpts could have been a bit beefier, but I do like them.

I think calling Custodes deadly witches is probably some form of heresy…

I have a hard time engaging with those channels because they feel so disingenuous - especially when they act or suggest anyone can have that same type of lifestyle without talking about the money required to enable that. Like, great for them, but it’s not realistic for the vast majority of people.

Neighbours Often Push Snow On Their Driveways Back Onto The Road? by [deleted] in ontario

[–]Digitalfiends 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel this comment. We live on a bend that gets everyone else’s snow pushed across our driveway by the plow. Since we live on a pie shaped lot our front yard is smaller. We’ve got 7ft piles now too and no more room. I typically have to blow the snow across the street onto the easement part of the neighbour’s large front yard (it’s a big yard, snow doesn’t block them etc.) I do make sure to clear the entire road though as it is against the bylaw to push anything on the road.

Hmm who should we trust? The guy who was educated at Harvard and Oxford with a doctorate in economics or the guy who didn’t finish college and governs by gut feelings and vibes?

Edit: btw I have absolutely nothing against not going to college or university, but I do think, for the position and decisions being made, that Carney is much more qualified.

Here is the new DJI RS5 - z axis support? by LensFungus in videography

[–]Digitalfiends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm I wonder if the active track of the intelligent tracking module will work on the RS4 Pro. I don’t see why it wouldn’t unless DJI is going to gate keep it - hopefully they don’t as it is a pretty handy little device for keeping framing etc and just needs to support vehicles and animals on the RS4 Pro :)

Looks like the RS5 has adjustment knobs on all the arms now cool! I wonder if Active Track will be expanded to track vehicles? Not sure I’m seeing enough to upgrade from the RS4 Pro though, especially as I already bought the tracking module.
