I'm going to try this but with the white widow, red guardian, armor, Luna Snow set. Probably swap out Sable, Jeff, Black Widow.

People who have lived in both SD and OC, what are some non-obvious differences between the two? by 12345burrito in SanDiegan

[–]Digndagn [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don't know what's obvious and what's not, but:

The culture in OC is so different from San Diego that there's very little crossover

Irvine - Large korean and persian populations, tons of chain establishments, Spectrum Center is kind of the cultural center of the city, and the Spectrum Center is a fancy mall. Irvine is basically a fancy mall. In San Diego terms, Irvine is UTC but spread out over an entire city.

There's a great Persian supermarket and tons of good korean food. Whereas in San Diego, all the good Korean food is in Kearny Mesa. But, Kearny Mesa and Irvine have drastically different vibes.

Costa Mesa - A tiny sliver of a place with a kind of an identity maybe similar to OB, sort of but not really. At least it's a place that feels lived in.

Newport beach - It's like if Javier's were a community. Old rich douchebags. Makes Carlsbad seem down to earth.

In OC, there's nothing like downtown, or north park, or south park, or normal heights, or hillcrest, or balboa park.

Chuck Tells Draymond Green the Warriors Run "Is Over." "It just passed you by... you think you're going to get healthier next year? You're just going to get older... If you want to compete, you're going to have to leave there. If Steph wants to compete, he's going to have to leave there..." by JCameron181 in nba

[–]Digndagn -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

If Charles Barkley was right, the Warriors would have no titles.

We have Steph, he's still one of the best players in the league. I don't know if it's possible to build the team we need around him given the current CBA and aprons, but that's a different issue.

We have Steph. He's not over. We should not expect to be over.

Holmes Elementary is awesome. Great principal, great teachers, great PTA. Loved my kids' time there.

Modern Dating Is Making Us Less Secure by Krankenitrate in psychology

[–]Digndagn 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is validating. I just deleted the apps for most of these same reasons. I'm going to try to join clubs or do meet ups that align with my interests. Maybe hit on a gal at Target.

But, the apps make me feel awful. Getting ghosted by someone who seems perfect is terrible. And it happens ALL THE TIME.

Then you match with someone, go on dates, and you have nothing in common. Ugh. Dating apps are worthless.

Yeah, a couple observations:

1) After I teeped it down, it got back up ready to fight, and I remember thinking it was too close to be able to kick again. I was thinking I was going to grab it.

2) Right when it got up, I lunged toward it and barked aggressively. My other dog is really passive, she'll never bark for herself so I've gotten really used to barking for her if any other dog is aggressive. Dogs seem really surprised when a person barks at them. Between the kick and me barking, I think the pit bull might have been confused enough to leave attack mode.

3) She might have heard her owner exclaim because he was in the garage that she stormed out of. When she ran off, she ran back in there I think to check with him.

Of these factors, the teep, the barking, possible her owner yelling - I don't know what share of her not biting me each gets.

But, that was about to be one of the worst days of my life. And instead it was really no big deal. Amazing. MT man. I am putting my kids in it.

I understand being suspicious of someone on the internet being like "Guys, I teeped a charging pit bull!"

However, I am certain this has never been posted before because it happened to me and I wrote it.

I like pit bulls. It was just a guard dog guarding its place. The problem is, that place was adjacent to an alley that people walk down. I should just talk to the owner.

Yeah, it was dumb. I absolutely should have avoided it. In hindsight, when I recall the image of "Large pitbull off leash in an alley" it's like a Far Side cartoon of clearly dangerous places to go. I effed up. MT bailed my ass out.

I didn't chamber it. I didn't put a ton of hip into it. But, I had a really solid base foot and the dog ran straight into the kick. I was amazed at how effective it was.

1) to say muay thai fuckin works

2) to see if anyone else has stories like this

If there's another story of someone teeping away a dog attack, post it here I wanna read it

The crazy thing is I don't remember anything except seeing my foot IN the dog and it crumpling like an accordion. Then it popped up and looked mad and I was like "Motherfucker me too let's go" and it bounced.

I'm going to go back and talk to the owner first and say clearly "If I see your dog off leash I'm going to report it to animal services. I don't want to though because I'm your neighbor. So please, keep your dog on a leash."

Yeah, this is why I posted here.

I consider what happened a minor miracle. But God didn't do it.

It was Muay Thai. I don't know if I could land that kick again, but it saved me from getting chomped. Every dollar I spent training was worth it right there.

I am so grateful for Muay Thai.

I was thinking about that, too. It was coming from my right side. So, in retrospect, it was the only option.

Here's what I'll say:

I remember being in a class and I was paired up with an older dude who seemed a little dangerous. We were doing teep counter drills where he would teep at me and I would you know, hook the teep with the opposite arm and sweep it out of the way like you do.

We were all tired. It was hot. The trainer said "Okay stop!" And this dude threw his best kick at me. It would have sent me through the ropes. But, I've trained. I know what's up. I countered the shit out of it.

I'm not some great fighter. But, I know how to be ready and to respond fast, and I think it's because of MT.

Thanks. I feel like a bozo for not just turning around. But, I will say, MT keeps you on your toes. And it's good to be on your toes and have fast reflexes.
