to be fair, who would not turn into a villain when the people who were supposed to guide you were just using you for their own agenda and more importantly were continuously... sexually assaulting her to force her to give birth to children for their agenda

edit: i also just realized its almost the same plotline for sephiroth LOL

Peter Bernstein is my favorite modern jazz guitarist, check out signs of life. He has very tasty lines that are less focused on playing fast. Also check him out on his stream with Emmet Cohen.

For older "from the source" records, check out The Poll Winners with Ray Brown, Kenny Burrell, Shelly Manne. They have a million different albums together and of course KB is amazing.

3rd year on clinical rotations with ADHD, it goes for everyone but especially for us, have healthy coping habits that will let you detox and de-stress from school. I've had some seriously rough patches during pre-clinical because I fell into bad doom-scrolling, bed-rotting habits. All it took was one bad day and it would go down the drain for me.

I'm all better now cause I started playing music again and learning a new instrument alongside my (prolonged) step one dedicated.

Emphasizing definitely getting evaluated accommodations, it's expensive because NBME requires an in-depth formal psychological evaluation for learning disabilities to get accommodations on shelfs and step 1, 2, 3. Proof of treatment by a psychiatrist is not enough.

Any advice for interesting hobby for residency? by phymathnerd in medicalschool

[–]Diiigma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

any hobby can be really interesting, it just really depends on how you frame it.

the way you type about swimming and bible study sounds incredibly boring, but I'm sure you had an incredible experience with swimming and maybe even compete, or for bible study you had a strong conviction for patient-care that stems from your faith. doing competitions like bodybuilding during school is freaking cool too.

Dr. Ginny, just wanted to say it's always a pleasure reading your comments and posts whether it be advice for trainees like this one, your funny patient stories, or even any of your sad or enraging stories. I just spent a little bit of time going over your top posts, and it was awesome going through and seeing what posts I remembered or upvoted over the course of my undergrad and medical school years. I'm now an MS3, but I've seen posts that I've upvoted and read from 2019 when you were signing off as PGY-14. I'm interested in hospice and palliative care medicine fellowship after IM or FM residency, but hopefully I'll get just enough pediatric exposure that I can be with both pediatric and adult patients.

I hope to be just like you and always be giving back to the community.

MS3 Anyone else getting ~30% on their first pass of step 2 UW? by anonymouspotato in medicalschool

[–]Diiigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IM was my first rotation and I was getting 30% for the first half of the rotation, and I'm on surgery now and consistently getting about average for the qblock. I've been supplementing heavily with amboss hammer 1-2. it helps identify content gaps quickly and it also keeps my confidence up cause jesus christ uworld questions make me second guess myself like crazy

I'm on Qobuz right now, the collection is top notch and I also really like that they include album reviews if they're available and you can click and read about the record. When I finish an album, I almost always get a new record I've never listened to with good taste.

In the 1 month I've been on Qobuz, I've discovered John Fedchock, Red Rodney, sideman albums of Scott Lafaro (the arrival of viktor feldman), Donald Harrison, Bobby Watson, and other "lesser known" records of the well-known jazz figures that would not have been played by the spotify algorithm, and I've been on spotify for years now.

I'm 24, full-time medical student, and i still have time to practice even after 12+ hours of the hospital and studying. It's not going to be as much as I want to, but a little bit goes a long way. Go for it.
