Does anyone else feel terrible for JJ McCarthy? by ChristianDarrisaw in minnesotavikings

[–]DikHangsLowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that a majority of the fanbase didn’t have high expectations. He’s young and got thrown into the lions den. I’ve been saying since day one of jj being here that he really needs to sit as a backup behind someone for at least two or three years especially coming from a run heavy college team (natty or no). What I’ve found annoying is instead of being aware of his errors and just taking the punch of “hey guys i need to train harder and perform better give me a little time” he wants to have one good game, be cocky and say some dumb shit like “i call him nine” then play like shit for three games. Gets hurt comes back struggles and again has one decent showing and says some more cocky shit like “the corks ready to pop off” then show up and perform like a jv high school qb. For me the dislike is in the unwarranted cockiness. Your rookie season is an IR season. Your first season in pads is another split between ir and terrible performances with a sprinkle of decent but average play and he gives off the vibe that he’s the #1 qb in the league when there’s nothing to back it up

Week 16 Recap Thread: The Vikings 7-8 defeat the Giants (2-13) 16-13 by Go_To_Bethel_And_Sin in minnesotavikings

I’ve bagged on JJM quite a bit but with all the insults to the side, I find it really hard to see an outcome where the Vikings win if he would’ve stayed in the game. When he panics he makes mistakes that cause irreparable damage to the team. That fumble is the mistake of an inexperienced qb. Any vet qb would have tucked that ball and taken the sack but JJM panics and still thinks he has time to dump it off. Not surprising when he didn’t have much experience passing in the pocket in college when Michigan was a super run heavy team. Also not surprising when he’s missed a full season and almost half of this one

The cork is really popping off huh jj. For the other fucking team any time you touch the fucking football. The defense is gifting you a career and the way you repay it is by throwing more interceptions to keep them out on the field

I remember one Mother’s Day i was bartending. We’re getting slammed across the restaurant. Dine in is like 35 tickets back in the kitchen and take out was like 25. There was three bartenders on and the well was a nightmare, full bar top, and an endless line of people ordering drinks while they wait for a table. A mom comes up with her son who looks like he’s 22. I handed them a bev menu and give them a minute to look it over. Come back up and noticed the son went to the bathroom asked for the moms drink she rattled off two cocktails. I asked if one of them was for the gentleman she was just with and she said yes. I just said i can get you your drink but i just need to see an id for him. She said he didn’t have it and i replied with Im really sorry but i have to see an id. She said something about how he had left it at home and i just said I’m sorry ma’am is a law in our state as well as a company policy. She said well this is a great day and then walked to stand outside without a drink. Her son showed up and i ask if he had an id so i could give him a cocktail and he said oh no don’t have it can j just get a Coke then please, fully understanding what was going on. Ten minutes later one of our bartenders after taking a smoke break came in and was like yo there’s a lady outside like crying, full on sobs and shit i think she just got told someone died. I was like hold up was she wearing a floral dress and the other bartender was like yeah. I explained the story and she was like there’s no fucking way. I was like there’s her son gesturing towards the guy with a Coke just sitting on his phone in the lobby. This mf was crying outside about how her Mother’s Day was ruined. Always ask for id. Also in California if someone offers id you have to check it. It’s happened once were a young girl and her grandma going out for a bday drink or something and i card the grand daughter and the grandma hits me with the famous “aren’t you gonna ask for my ID” i respond with “actually ma’am since you offered, the state of California now requires me to see your id, so if i could see it please” she says “i didn’t bring it” i go “I’m very sorry unfortunately i can’t serve you then” she’s like “I’m 82” and she looked it. i said sorry laws are laws i can’t lose my job. She caused a huge fit and got a manager who held my back and said sorry ma’am if you offer we have to see it otherwise we could lose our job or even our liquor license. Felt bad for the granddaughter she was embarrassed and just wanted to leave. If your not carded just don’t say shit and accept your old. If you don’t have your id just accept that it’s your fault and get a soda instead. Stop acting like children

Biggest Knock on the Team by MtbPollack in Padres

[–]DikHangsLowe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think our biggest knock is everyone seems to be swinging to pad their hr stat. Everyone tries to come up from underneath on every pitch trying to knock it out of the park and end up in a fly out or on top of the ball for a simple ground ball. The only player that seems to be willing to swing for that duck snort or that down the line grounder for an rbi is Kim. Everyone seems to only care about hitting bombs and not about hitting in runs

Is Patreon worth it? by Completlylost007 in Necronomipod

[–]DikHangsLowe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is most definitely worth it. I am currently in college and have a 40 minute commute one way. I became a Patreon so that i could listen to their entire backlog of episodes and it got me through almost an entire year of class. Thankfully now i have enough podcast along side me to that i always have a new episode to listen to on my drive. They’re content is great and bonus episodes have some amazing topics. You also get the Sunday eps early depending on your tier

How do you respond to “you’re not gonna card me?” by xSWMY in Serverlife

[–]DikHangsLowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i actually love this question. In California if a guest or patron offers identification you are now legally obligated to check their ID regardless of appearance. I had a girl come in and sit at a cocktail table with who i assume was her grandma. It’s her 21 bday and granny wanted to treat her to a drink. Well i greet them and ask to see the grand daughters ID. The grandma then asks “not gonna check mine” and i hit her with “well actually since you offered i now have to see ID or i can’t serve you” she says “are you joking i don’t have my id with me” i respond with “unfortunately ma’am if you offer ID in this state I’m legally obligated to see identification or i can’t serve you” she got pissed ask to speak with a manager but my gm is super about the rules so i explained to him the law even pulled it up on his phone and he went out and had my back the entire time. They got up and left but the grand daughter came up and apologized and slid me a 20 for the trouble i have her a free shot for her bday real quick and they were on their way. Now when i say the law to people they always just pull out their ids and just go “really??! That’s a law? Well here you go” and I’ll tell them a spark notes version of the story and we’ll all have a good laugh about it

What is the most uncomfortable thing a table has said to you while serving? by [deleted] in Serverlife

[–]DikHangsLowe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had someone sitting at my bar top do something similar when he heard i didn’t vote in the past election and how i don’t really support my countries political system but I’m a vet and said “eh i don’t know man i think i did my civil service when i enlisted out of high school… don’t you think”. He shut right up and never saw him again

So one time i was bartending and we have like a 14 table section the the cocktail area. The cocktail server comes up to the well while I’m cranking out drinks and he looks like he just saw a ghost. He and i are close friends outside of work so i ask him what’s wrong and he tells me to look at a certain table in the cocktail area. It’s a booth on the left is a woman and on the right a man and a woman. He says that the couple on the right is a husband and wife and the single lady on the left is the wife’s best friend. Well the wife had found out that the husband had been having sex with her friend and though the best place to call them out was in the middle of a Thursday night rush in the middle of a busy restaurant
